does not know how to read Korean law. In any case it is nice to see a government taking this seriously.
I have said it before and will say it again, there is a fortune to be made by building internet software that would enable us to do all the things we want to do on the web in a way that preserves our privacy.
not really. the general lack or privacy means that all this data is an attractive target for a wide selection of bad actors. so it undermines everyone's security, just the way an insecure browser can undermine the security of the entire internet, even those who do not use the browser. Privacy enhances security for everyone.
I have to wonder how many international conferences are no longer awarded to US cities because of this nonsense. But at least we are winning the war on tourism.
data is not like tangible commodities, so usage does not make sense. Also, usage based billing is just about preventing us from cutting our cable and using netflix instead. I cannot explain as well as the video, but that is it in a nutshell
What I have never understood is why the National Federation of Independent Business, the trade association that putatively represents small business, has not defended net neutrality. Without it costs will rise in a variety of ways, not just in terms of paying tolls so that customers can reach your site, but in increased costs for any ASP and SaaS software that you use in your business. Without net neutrality the cloud computing business model becomes far less economic. There are way too many complacent actors in all this.
Freedom means you should also be able to make money and act selfishly with your distro or open source project. I really don't get why it's always such a problem for open source advocates. If you want truly free software you let everyone do whatever they want with it.
But what would I know, I am a humble marketing communications consultant.
How on earth could these people know enough to make such a complex decision in such a short period of time? It's not possible. Most of them don't know the slightest thing about the internet, how it works, and what drives it. It baffles me to see them making such a statement.
I don't imagine that they care. I think that live in a world of their own creation and that they are engaged in some sort of weird Leninist tactic of "heightening the contradictions" to make the country ungovernable. Sadly, it seems to working. I don't pretend to understand it.
is the Luce Center, where, in addition to free wifi, they have a special table set up for laptops. From Wednesday - Sunday they have FREE coffee and tea from 12 - 4 PM. Slightly off topic, but good to know if you are in DC.
people are cutting cable because they don't want to pay for boring programming http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6peRQV5hFEQ
I would never have supposed the arts agency had it in them!
we offer this little video: http://www.albumoftheday.com/facebook/

our Galtian overlords would work out that privacy is an aspect of security and that pervasive surveillance is an inherent security vulnerability. sigh
is a great buzzword!
then why are so few stolen phones recovered?
is why Apple and law enforcement cannot use this data to locate stolen phones.

or health care.
I would not believe this if I were not seeing it.
Przemek Klosowski talks about Linux, Open Source software and DCLUG
wow, I had not even considered that. There is a reason for the 508 rules.
except that software should be accessible by design, and GUIs have issues for blind people.

this is a great video on why usage based billing is a scam.
It may not have any force or effect; but it is still a very bad sign.
I think that they have already gone to SIGKILL
http://blogs.aljazeera.net/africa/2011/02/23/live-blog-libya-feb-24 I have to wonder if soldiers confiscating electronics offer to sell them back to the people they confiscated them from? Nothing like a falling regime to bring out the entrepreneurial spirit.

what if it happened to your business? what do you do then?
