... and out of those 35 mln Brits they pulled a group of 10 people. 3 of them said "sure, I bought some music". One of them was asleep at the time of questioning, so they counted him as half. The result: 35% of people buy music.

Seriously: That's what I've been saying in parent post: they get some shitty, non-representative data and try to generalise based on that. It's not only non-representative - it seems to favor "legal" music - UK is generally rich and it has long traditions in music (which probably co-relates with people being more willing to purchase recordings), etc., etc.

I've heard that those researchers are going to Nigeria to prove that 95% of the World's population is black.

Actually "legal downloaders", not "legal downloads".

I just hate when people quote statistical data and have no clue about what they're doing. They usually re-interpret the data and reproduce the information that's either incomplete or false. False this time... 35% of people download music and it's kinda stupid to write that it relates somehow strictly to the number of downloads.

On average I probably buy around one bar of candy a week. If it was free (that's what pirated music is about, right?), I bet I'd eat more.

Sorry if it seems unimportant, I just kinda get pissed when negligence leads to misinformation.

Personally I think that while some of the stuff is interesting, most of it is made up rather to confuse SEOs (google doesn't quite like them, you know that, right?). Before that, they had couple factors to think about and work on. Now, there's a shitload of stuff that just makes their work harder. I'm a big fan of Simpsons (meaning I love to watch them, I don't harass Homer nor any other member of his family) and right after seeing the last available episode I felt an urge to find some other cartoon. Some of my friends said Family Guy is way funnier. I got first 3 seasons... funny at the begining, but it gets boring and it's obvious to me they duplicated A LOT of ideas and concepts from The Simpsons (I hope it's not the same team :) ). Starting with the general setup (lower class family, father, mother, boy, girl and a baby), through traits (gambling problem of the mother), to some actual episode themes/jokes/etc. Didn't like it.

Then I got Futurama. Very funny in the begining (first episode's great), but later on they just repeat same stuff over and over. And characters are sooo flat.

I'm starting to believe we won't see any good cartoons after The S :(

I think they cripple students by giving them calculators during important tests. Let them use it during classes (for performance reasons), but make sure they can multiply, divide, add, substract on paper or "in head" (sorry, I don't know proper English term). The only way to make sure is to require those skills at some important step (a final exam being a good example). You can't do those simple things - you fail.

And I don't accept that "you don't need to be able to count, you have calculators" crappy argument. It trains your brain and you don't always have a calculator nearby.

I used to have a strict math teacher in high school. He would call your name, gave you a simple calculating task and count to 3 (which took like 6 seconds).

-- Mateusz. Come to the blackboard
    -- Square root from 5329
    -- One...
    -- Two...

    -- Three. 73. You failed. F

I bet most kids nowdays would say it's impossible to count it. I got shitloads of F's this way but I'm incredibly glad. Don't have to click KDE_thingy --> Utilities --> Calculator all the time or panick when I'm outdoors and need to calculate something.

Piracy helps software companies - that's a common wisdom that everybody knows. Those young people that use illegal stuff eventually get older, start earning better money, buy legal stuff.
