I am curious, though, with MP3 over the net distro being the future, what is holding more artists back from being indie and reaping more profit on their own hard work? People like you and me who want music, but don't buy mp3's online, because of the degrade in quality and current costs.
If I want an Indie album I'll buy it from the band at a concert or through an online link from their Myspace page to a distributor that sells it.
Agreed:
Cable TV used to be commercial free.
Music used to be DRM free.
So are you going to just complain about it or fight back?
Personally I don't watch TV, but I watch shows on DVD.
I also listen to commercial free radio.
I only buy CDs from concerts, where the band profits most, and from Indie bands with out DRM
The only sad thing is going to be our grandkids asking us what it means to drive "stick". What do you mean, that there are only automatic transmission hybrids?
Maybe from Toyota. I know the Prius had a ECVT (automatic), but the Honda Insight has a 5 speed tranny (manual).
Honest questions here. When I was younger people would call my house to see if I wanted to hang out. That's how they got in contact with me, the home phone.
1. What do parents with cellphones do in that situation?
2. Are all called filtered through the parents now to get to the kids?
3. Do their kids answer their parent's cellphone?
4. Do their friends now have to have both parent's cellphone numbers to make sure they can get through to the one with their friend at the time?
5. When is it time to get your kids a cellphone for themselves?
Of course, flus are not caused by cold weather, they are caused by viruses... close contact between humans and farm animals that serve as the reservoirs of infectious viruses. A good argument for not letting your kids have a pet.
I predicted that in the future we'd carry our OS, programs, and files all on a portable device (like a thumb drive or iPod). That way we could bring our 'identity' along with us where ever we go. The connection, between the computer to the device, would be standardized so we could just hook up to any computer and always have our familiar OS, desktop, setting, etc. This just brings us one step closer to my prediction.
Plenty of companies are working on creating more dynamic and procedural content for games Which companies? What games?
I think Spore is amazing because of the procedural modeling, texturing, animation, and sound. Please inform me of others to look into that compare to this.
people follow too closely on highways and have to use their brakes I call this drafting and it saves me a lot of money on gas. One trip I drafted for a 5 hour round trip and got an average 5 miles per gallon more than comparable trips. But I do slow up if I see breaking ahead, you don't have to be an unintelligent driver just because you drive 'too close' regularly.
make a nano-tech device in a Canadian coin. They'll never suspect it, and if they do people will laugh at them and call them a stupid American. Then you can take over the world with your device. No one will suspect it Canada is a neutral country.
This would be great if it worked for more than one monitor. Then you could just have one PC in the house and have everyone have their own monitor, keyboard, and mouse as an access point to it. If most of what the house did was only as intensive as surfing the web and writing papers there would be a masive cost savings to be had.
In most cases you wouldn't need multiple OSs though. Only the ability to run multiple user accounts, each on their own screen. I guess this just give more flexibility though.
Firefox doesn't spell check the subjects of posts on /. only the text boxes.
/. doesn't spell check the subjects of posts on /. either.
Apparently
Then Wikipedia changed their slogan to "Gotta catch 'em all".
And to think they could have gotten 'unlimited texting' for only $5 a month.
I for one accept our new pirate overlords.
Video, proving pirates better than ninjas, coming soon.
Seriously what ever happened to Star Craft Ghost?
I had been watching it closely though the blizzard website and the next thing I know they took it off, no explanation, nothing.
Agreed. They'll also have added justification for it if they change the definition of broadband.
Good way to put it into perspective. Also any new features Vista has over XP the more potential for Linux to adopt it.
64-bit mobile ought to be enough for anybody.

Yeah, I thought about the alt/title text after posting. I didn't want to reply to my own post though. Sometimes the alt text is the funniest part.

It's not much, but it's a start to fight back.

For those who may have missed the Velociraptor joke, another one here, and one more for good measure.
I love xkcd!

That's an lol fine of $101 for texting while driving. Just be glad it's not a Leet fine.

Yeah, well hot girls could be 'all up ons' this weekend.
So that would read...
Dang it you're so right, sigh.
I think Spore is amazing because of the procedural modeling, texturing, animation, and sound. Please inform me of others to look into that compare to this.
and when I do it's on a DVD that I, or a friend, purchased and I can watch it whenever I want.
Sure there are minor amounts of ads in there, but most you can fast forward though or outright skip.
There is this game company who is going to announce a new game soon. They're called Blizzard. If that game is an MMO it might beat WOW.

So what you're saying is if I have a foot fetish I shouldn't move to Thailand?
