    not a parallel comparison. the dell doesn't have the built in camera, but it does have a larger screen (with option for higher res) and weighs less. also, what warranty option did you choose? i'm assuming it's more than 90 days also. the wwan option is nice also.

    not that /. needs any more references to 1984, but this could make it a lot easier to alter the text. unless there were multiple databases controlled by sources with conflicting interests (some sort of checks and balances) or the database had some non-defeatable version tracking, how would you know that the content is genuine?

    just as we are losing our rights, they are gaining theirs. well, have still have the rights, but companies are putting in place technologies that make us violate dmca to do so. it's like putting locks on a doors of a public building that everyone is allowed to enter, but breaking the locks violate the law.

    sadly, those contributions are what candidates listen to. so these pooled contributions are the only way to counter the contributions of big business. at least in a union you have a vote..

    no, unions don't contradict free markets. that's the FUD given by anti-union companies. funny how it's ok for the recording industry or the oil industry to unite in their interests, but not joe worker.

    i know i may be the only yes vote here, but i see unions as a necassary evil. an evil to counter the greater evil of greedy management. yeah, there are side-effects like mediocrity and what not. but without unions, we would not have a middle class in this country. we would be stuck in the early days of the industrial revolution where workers were just rats to be killed off when the bottom line (or extra mansion) called for it. some argue that unions only protect the lazy, but they protect everyone. all you union haters should try working at a place like walmart. you will be thrilled by their anti-union stance.

    try running a specialty store in a small town. anything that you carry that will bring more than a few customers in a day will end up being carried at sprawlmart. if you lived in a big city, you have a better chance, but that's not where walmart wants to compete anyway.

    not many other companies try to make the state medicaid the employees health care program. you don't think they are making heavy profits? check out the placement of the walton family in the richest ppl lists.

    u can dail up to an isp and use the phone like a traditional analog modem (csd), you would only get 9.6kbps and it would eat your minutes. doesn't require a data plan though. i was refering to getting a data plan and going using the phone as a gprs modem (if your phone can do edge, you can get about 160kbps) with your laptop at no extra charge. they used to have a normal data plan for this for 19.99, now it's packaged with their hotspots too for 29.99. not as good a deal if you never use hotspots, but still cheaper than most other data plans. while edge isn't at fast as evdo, tmobile doesn't do things like disable bluetooth dun or try to otherwise stop you from getting the most out of your data plan. they even let you unlock your phone after being with them for 90 days. they r cool like that :)

    tmobile lets you use your phone as a modem without extra cost too. i frequently use mine as a bluetooth modem.
