Only if you subtract 3000+ articles all written in the same manner, tone, point of view, and personality. You also have to subtract an extremely consistent moderation behavior regarding at least several hundred thousand posts, years of personal email correspondence, and the fact that she has always openly proclaimed her desire for anonymity and protects that anonymity with smart computing habits.

I'll bet she wouldn't be anonymous for very long if she used Microsoft products.

What's to prevent this vendor from changing again, forcing another expensive "upgrade" on their clients in the future? If the vendor can't sustain their current level of support, maybe they are in financial trouble themselves. What options would the customers have if the vendor goes out of business?

The fact is, they do have to move their entire accounting system just to run windows. And they have to pay for the pain as well!

They should ditch this vendor as quickly as possible, even if they do have to switch to windows.

Baloney. They work for a den of thieves and are such themselves. They should hang there heads in shame at the shoddy, insecure, unreliable shit their "company of pride" turns out. Anyone who works for Microsoft deserves no respect, because they work for a company that lies, cheats, steals, and threatens in their routine operations.

And if they claim they need a paycheck, tell them to whore their daughters. There's more dignity in that than working for microsoft.

...the sad reality is that there are not any alternatives for many applications.
No, the sad reality is that most of the Microsoft users in the workplace don't understand the tasks they are supposed to perform well enough to use other applications. For example, not having Photoshop in linux does not mean there are no alternatives, it just means that those who claim there are no alternatives don't understand exactly how or what they are trying to do. They are slaves to the software.

This might be an acceptable situation for some businesses if they did not have to pay for the Microsoft-certified "professionals" to come fix their installations when the OS gets fried by malware, viruses, adware, spyware, and/or patches and "updates". Not to mention the costs of trying to relicense software if a piece of hardware goes out.

The real cop-out is saying that there are no alternatives.
