So their laptops/workstations are patched... what do they do to protect against unknown vulnerabilities? It appears as though they just assume they don't exist and therefore pose zero risk...

Are you retarded?
ICMP is not an application layer protocol. ICMP isn't an application at all. It's a protocol and a vital component of the TCP/IP protocol suite. Are you proposing we handle all TCP/IP communication in userland processes?
Mastercard, like all credit providers have strict certification criteria (e.g. VISA CISP) or they will impose heave fines in the event of a breach. The necessary security controls *SHOULD* be in place if everyone's doing their job... Controls like encrypted storage of credit card and other customer data.
Yeah, Linux may be open, but it still pretty much sucks from a usability standpoint. Sure, it's come a hell of a long way in the last 10 days, but it's moving too slowly and losing ground day after day.
Unless something significant changes, the only place I see Linux as having real potential for growth is with embedded systems that don't require any direct OS interaction and run on perdictable hardware platforms.
How do you define 'truly web-based'?
Does it have to be Lynx compatible too?

I mean, honestly, it's about as interesting as how many people own DVD players, or have telephone service.
All women have at least a full C.
Unless you're looking to become the equivalent of a modern day AS/400 / mainframe admin.
It's interesting to see that *all* browsers are vulnerable to it... each making the same mistakes as the other.
If OpenOffice has the best coders and this is the best they can come up with, I'm a little worried.
I still prefer allofmp3.com :) $.40 an album isn't too bad.
How is this mod'd interesting?
Do you honestly believe the frontend, Internet-facing webserver platform has anything to do with the proprietary, backend transaction infrastructure?
How is Sendmail in any way related to security?
Based on its history, it's probably the closest thing to the exact opposite as you can find.

There isn't a dynamic content filter available right now that's 100% accurate, or even close to it.
Turn off safe search on Images.google and search for pornography through any content filter you have available and see what gets through.
Humans are said to see their lives flash before them before death.. Large technology dinosaurs turn to Open Source.
That's almost like comparing a cancer patient with an AIDS patient.
Did I say anything anti-OSS? Hell, I'm a major contributor to 4-5 oss projects...
But in answer t you question; yes, anyone can post on Slashdot, but should they get a headline devoted to their worthless contribution?
Link
Why the hell is this even on Slashdot in the first place? Who is this guy? Is he anyone I should know? Is he known to be an authority on anything?
Does any dumb fuck get Slashdot coverage if they write something that's anti-MS? FUCK.

If that's the case, isn't it even more pathetic that Linux or any other OS hasn't posed any signifcant threat to them?
Today Gimps functionality is equivalent to Word Perfect 1.0. It's a pretty pathetic, but you can still write documents.
Perhaps because there are like 5 vuls for Ubuntu released every week?
Windows is crap!
He actually had the strength to lift an asian woman!
