Why would it be neccisary to run full BGP routes in all of your routers anyways? Couldnt you rull partial routes in the edge routers and save your full routes for your core and peering points? 2 -4 thousand routers is a lot to go down at once.
We are talking about 2 -4 thousand routers. i think there redudancy was there. I however am willing to blame a routing protocol before i blame the OS. the article unfortunately doesnt talk about which routing protocol they were using. My guess is they were probably using IS-IS.
There were tons of errors and a few times the sub titler just used a - because they had no idea what he said. The person doing the subtitles was definitely not a networker. Like SHA1 , they totally skipped in the subtitles.
I have a G4 ibook, i demand to be compensated, i demand a new macbook/pro replacement immediately. What ? Well yes my G4 is working fine.. that is not the point...
Dontcha think thats because its now being shipped on 90% of windows boxes now instead of XP ? And that you cant really buy XP off the shelf anymore ?
Gee got to love the spin doctors.
Comeon everybody lets jump on the bandwagon and all go buy vista !!!
if he never connects his LAN to a WAN, then he doesn't have to worry to much. Like i said i hope he doesn't have an access point. cause you might as well be laying a Ethernet cable down your drive way an into the street. No i'm not a script kiddie, and i'm not running my mouth. like other posters have said , you get used to operating with telnet, and you start doing it in a production environment your asking for trouble. The chance of it happening to this guy on his "private" LAN are slim. But what if he just gets in the habit of doing telnet cause its quick dirty and easy? it happens, more often than you think.
I home you have no wireless access points, or any un patched windows boxen, cause your just begging to get owned. Doesnt matter how "safe" you think your network is. anyone who still uses telnet for anything is asking for it.
Crackers crack programs, registration/functionality restrictions etc.
Hackers in the mainstream terminology is the correct word to use.
We all know real hackers, are tinkers and inquisitive people, who like exploring the bounds of what is commonly accepted usage of data/equipment.
Is this just a vulnerability , or is there an exploit for it in the wild. If so, what is the payload? I use a mac , so I'm not concerned for me , just the network i manage.
This guy is trying to pull a steve jobs, reality disortion field, to influence who and how his servers are bought.
Im sorry CEO's blogging, is strickly a cheap (as in free) marketing device, dont buy into this BS.
And they said that thats what its for right ? its bunk because they said were going to release this software so that more people switch !!!
Or perhaps , just maybe they released it for mac owners who still need to use windows app's or services, that virtual PC's emulation is too slow for.
This is just another way for other companies to ride on the market popularity of apple, by saying what ever apple is doing is crap.
Being a memeber of the IT dept. at a school district , i am glad our secuirty policies are as stringent as they are. when you have a few thousands teenagers trying to download as much spyware and pr0n as possible. Now you may say most business dont have teenagers as employees, but even the teachers need to be protected from themselves because they dont know any better. What im getting at , is if he thinks its hard to get stuff with his security policies wait one week without them and see what he can do.
Anyone wonder why this whitedust website is getting so much free publicity lately ? is it some how related to slashdot , or the slashdot editors ? i find 3 stories in a weeks time, kind of odd. they will approve a story about how to track down a fscking mac address, but they wont publish a story about how thousands of SS#'s just got comprised from a USC database.
I hope this is sarcasm , the OSI is very relevant in networking today.

NM , its morelikely BGP4.
Sounds like to me that unless your dealing with a massive network, you are not summarizing your subnets well.

Arent there services online that do this already? I could of sworn you could locate a cell phone on the internet , but i cant find anything about it.

layer 3 has nothing to do with this , thus IP's are irrelevant. You mean MAC spoofing, flooding MAC address's to a switch.

What BIOS, i thought macbooks use EFI?
Yeah just like they put DSL in college heights, verizon is just lazy.
Mine just shows 10:10.....
guess its only an anologe trick.

Its probably done with Cueing , and limiting streams from IP's to 128k
Its PXE, Pre eXecution Environrment. Pixies are little Faeries.

why do you end every sentence with penguin?
I wanna know how many of these they were actually able to recover.
