Mozilla renders slashdot in 'quirks' mode. I can't comment on Mac OS 9, but on Linux and Windows 2K I can see no problems with Mozilla's rendering of Slashdot.

The ruin of technical magazines started well before the public became aware of the Internet. Most technical magazines started on the slippery slope from containing mostly technical articles to consisting mostly of reviews of commercial equipment long before the World Wide Web came on the scene.
Does becoming a "tougher" sell also mean that magazines also have lower their quality? Compare computer magazines today with Byte of 15 to 20 years ago or with (UK) Personal Computer World of the same vintage. I would, naively, have thought that to become a tougher sell that magazines would have to increase their quality, or is it that they (perceive that they) have to "dumb down" the content to try to be more attractive to the less knowledgeable (potential) readers?
The UK government is also trying to replace analogue with digital TV, but rather than going to HDTV the broadcasters are muxing as many channels as they can possibly manage onto each frequency. Not only that, but for terrestial services, they are transmitting on considerably less power than on analogue. All of which combines to reduce the quality.
Or even the word processor statistics when WordPerfect reigned supreme. The change from almost everyone running WordPerfect to running Word happened very quickly.
So will this mean that companies (or individuals) creating files will also be able to set the DRM restrictions on those files? Or will creating material "protected" by DRM be restricted to the movie and music moguls?
Or as a compromise, set the firewalls (home and work) to only accept connections to port 22 from specified IP addresses (ie home accepts connections from work and vice versa) This does not offer perfect security, but is better than leaving the port open to all.
Whereas if they had studied both men and women and found that women handled prolonged weightlessness better then men, would they change the plans and make the mars expedition all female?
Or require that that DNS entries be unique on glyph rather than character code. So that if 2 codes generate the same glyph make DNS treat them as the same character.
The Internet changed that. Now, anyone, including me, can own a 'printing press'.
Which is why the "Freedom of the Press" should be applied to internet publishing as well as paper. I believe that it was originally applied to pampheteers as well as as to newspaper publishers
I note that under termination the only criteria is breaking the agreement. It does not say that NAI have the right to unilaterally revoke the licence without "just cause".
Which is not always a good thing. Maybe I just have weird tastes, but I think that often the early music by popular arists is better than that released once they have become stars.
Why can't they limit the upstream? I am connected via a Radio LAN connection to the ISP. They provide limiting in both upstream and downstream direction so that we only obtain the bandwidth we pay for.
Why does the restriction have to be at the consumer end? Could the provider not restrict the traffic rate to each IP address (or sub-net) passing through its routers?
The "problem" from the governments' points of view is that they (in whatever country, US, EU etc) can levy taxes on physical items imported no matter whether they were ordered via internet, phone, mail or any other method. What they are now wanting to do is find some way of taxing "goods" (eg software, music etc) imported electronically and downloaded from outside their jusristiction.

Rather than just listening to music, what about playing music? Or listen to music by attending concerts (of non RIAA performers/composers)
The way to see episodes of the West Wing if you miss them on TV is to buy the DVDs. I missed the first series but now have it on DVD.
That is why technical advisors (to politicians) should be employed by the government or acedemia, so that they are not swayed by self-interest.

And of those which have, how many of the resultant CDs would have the same "hash key" which CDDB uses to identify CDs?

I think the word is sequestrated

Also, do not forget the lyricist and composer. They deserve at least as much, if not more, than the performer(s).
As does SuSE, or does RH7.3 have as much as the 7 CDs (or 1 DVD) of SuSE 8.0?

I think that is incorrect. UK customs do charge VAT on shipping and handling.

If the instructions are nonsensical then follow them to the letter and generate nonsensical output.
Make that protection mechanisms which prevent fair use.
