I have been playing co-op Quake with my brother recently... and Ive also expanded my Quake 1 to a whopping 5gigs... well, thats a huge amount of expansion for a game that was originally under 60megs. id has released the source and John Romero has also recently released all the original.MAP files from the games production, including a portion of a map that was cut to save space!
The quake engine has been redone, modded and theres still quite a bit going on with that game.
"I really don't know why Microsoft persists in believing that Windows is the fountain of all knowledge..."
There was a group of guys at work bragging about their latest version of Windows with 100s of GB HDs, 2gb+ of Ram, dual core processors, raid, nic, modems, just spewing technical jargon left and right like they were at a hardware symposium or whatever... Anyway... in the middle of all of this at a key quiet moment after everyone in the circle had their turn at bragging rights, the next guy in the circle, with his hands in his pocket, as everyone looked at him in wonder of what amazing rig he could posses, simply shrugged his shoulders and stated, "I got Donkey Kong."
from TFA, right out of the gate "After the success of T-Mobile's Sidekick series..."
I owned a sidekick3, 2 of them to be exact, and both of them met a violent demise. One took a trip off the 4th floor into a concrete wash, the other, stomped into oblivion in the parking lot after work.
Before the upgrade (which it nagged you ever 5 mins of the day to do with no option to opt out) I had ZERO problems... first day into the upgrade, that son of a bitch would freeze up in the middle of summer on the equator(A Christmas Story quote...)
The sales might have been a success, but after that bastard locking to the point of pulling the battery and it wiping ALL of my saved emails, pics, texts contacts, etc(like wtf is the goddamn miniSD and SIM card for!?!)... Id call the product itself a total failure.
Other than that, when it did work, it was a kickass device
I dont know if this post would be considered a rant or informative?
Maybe I missed it when I RTFA, but it didnt mention which version of XP was used... a look at HPs site shows that the HP Compaq nc6400 did ship with XP Pro (whether that matters much compared to home edition or not)
Also... were these systems ran all the way default, as in, boots up as Administrator with no password? (again, not sure how much that matters in a test like this)
I do agree with the title, flawed survey indeed.
I dont blame Vista or XP so much as I blame IE version X.XX
Id like to see the exact same suite of tests ran against the latest version of Opera, Netscape and Firefox.
For some reason, anything piracy/antipracy reminds me of those old tapes shown in school which basically said, "sex is the devil."
Yet how many people continue to participate in what the "devil[lawmaker/politician/lawyer]" says is "wrong[immoral, home backups of owned material]
I started on the net with a 14.4 Boca Modem... Some of you are on the floor. others are like "huh!?!" But I remember wondering... how can I get this CD to fit on my 300mb HD?"
In the middle of this I had a change of heart.. i think it comes down to a Marco / Polo type situation...
RIAA yells out marco... and they sue the holy horseshit out of the loudest "Polo!"
Fuck it, my karma is already bad.. thats my drunkewn opinion, mod me as you will... =D
you'd think that the term 'Heavy' gamer would better describe a person who plays games at least once a *Day*...
Those were my thoughts exactly. I usually get in an hour everyday after work, mostly killing people in GTA. I guess Im seriously compulsively addicted, and based on my game of choice, a potential public risk.
I worked for a company that built the network for a new building on the University campus. The main feed was a 1200 foot run of fiber. It was put in, terminated and tested and all was good. 2 Days later the line was ripped in half by a backhoe from the company they contracted to do the plumbing.
Rumors said the guy was fired due to failing a drug test.
A lot of this went on in a game design course I took for Lead Game Designer. A lot of us (students) found others that excelled in certain areas and used it. After all, we were "Lead" designers. Cant code? Well this guy can code direct-x drivers. Cant even draw a stick figure? This guy can not only draw amazing art, but he knows how to design and animate the 3d models as well. Everyone traded talents and a lot of collaborating went on.
We didnt just buy work or have it done for us, it was always a team involvment. We all taught and learned from eachother.
Its one thing to have it done for you, its another to get help in exchange for help, backing one anothers weak areas and helping to improve them.
This seems to be more of a problem on pre-installed systems. You get it home, set it up, and it basically boots the OS with its pants down as far as security is concerned.
I know when I bought my Gateway laptop it came with a default login as Administrator and to identify itself on the network, it used the OEM key as its name. I knew enough to change these options and many others myself, but many users do not.
Why is it that Windows offered pre-installed on machines doesnt at least come with some sort of brochure or pamphlet explaining the least a user can do to add any level of security?
Being a "geek" seemed to become the "cool" thing to be after people started finding out they could get stuff for ""free" ie. games, software, music, movies, etc...
This obviously does not define what a geek is. Just the misinformed trying to think they are.

Now for this bot, is it going to be the same user name, or random one everytime?

They also have a list of current active Q1 servers that detail player count and current map/mod being run.
My brother sent this to me the other night. http://megagames.com/news/html/console/manhunt2adultsonlyps2versionleaked.shtml
Telefragged?
An off topic question perhaps, but if you created a clone and killed it, would it be murder or suicide?
D.A.R.E. = BSafe (and equivalent)
Just Say No = Just Dont Click
Strength in Numbers = NetNanny (and equivalent)
More and more Im noticing a tremendous drop in worrying about real world dangers and a frightening increase in virtual dangers.
My parents were worried about Drive-bys, Drugs and gangs...
Parents today worry about Video-games, Cyberbullying and Porn.
I guess by todays standards... Video games would be the Gangs, Cyberbullying would be the Drive-bys, and Drugs would be the porn?

So can sticking the disc in a very low taser level clear this right up? Maybe a microwave on low for n - seconds?
Also the article says...
...Kestrel Wireless Inc. Could I put this on my wireless router, download an ISO and the disc will be fixed? For some reason, anything piracy/antipracy reminds me of those old tapes shown in school which basically said, "sex is the devil." This is all nice, but what does the backhoe have to say about this?
"published by Wasabi Systems."

Makes itself more obvious...

all most as intrusive as the screen over President Skroob's toilet.
