    And while American corporations MAY want access to their markets now that they are growing as consumers, were that market not growing, corporations would be perfectly happy to only exploit the Chinese labor force to make cheaper widgets
    There is more to it than cheap labor. My teacher said it also has to do with environmental regulations also.

    Personally i think that Robo Rally is best with a group ov nerds and a crate of beer, but seriously, I can see that it could actually be used for educational purpose for kids, as there is a degree of exitement in the game (will i get to xxx without getting more shot up so i can repair?). At the same time educate something about the strict logical rules of programming (that a computer will do *precicely* what you programmed it to do without any consideration about the surroundings or change in the conditions the programmer did not anticipate) in a fun way (as learning it the hard way in front of a real computer can be quite fustrating as we all know...).
    Heheh.. This brings back found memories of my robotics club where we would program a robot and all it would do is do a 360 straight into a wall.

    Welcome to a world where literally everything is copyrighted... Fun fact: did you know that buildings are copyrighted to the architects that designed them? There's actually a special exemption that allows you to publish pictures taken of buildings from public ground without contacting the architect first and getting permission. If this didn't exist, any picture taken where a building is visible in the background would be a copyright violation. It's a crazy world
    Of course. It really isn't crazy when you can think of architects as artists. There is absolutely nothing they do but make a building look pretty.

    From a personally standpoint. I have used diebolds other products and they didnt work when I needed them to. They were card readers designed to take out money from my student card and then start the washing machine. Unfortunately, the machine took my money and didn't start the machine. I had to get a refund from the school.

    Uggg.. Read the article. That will not happen. The person will still have the same structure of the face so he will still resemble the person. Worst case scenario is a freakish mix of the dead person andhimself. Plus this scenario is garunteed to shorten your life span because you are taking some freakishly powerful drugs. It would be the same scenario for a kidney transplant.

    Never ceases to amaze me how little respect Americans in general have for other countries. Read through the first 20 posts and just about every post is trying to crack a joke...at the expense of the Malaysians. Granted non-Americans are just as insensitive towards other cultures, this group is in the minority. Freedom of speech is one thing. Insulting/joking at the expense of others is hurtful, and reflects very poorly on the US as a whole. NASA believes this is possiblebecause of the fact that we have all this former technology to use (Space Shuttle and Apollo). Malaysia has none of that.

    The term "frappucino" comes form a combination of the Italian word for ice, "frappe", and cappuccino, to denote that it is a coffe-based drink (then came along the creme frappucinos . . . G-d help us all).

    Yeah because we all know that frppucino is a better word for a vanilla milkshake.:)

    But I'll be damned if I remembered any of it a week after the test.

    Some of this is meant to be memorized (ie basic differnations and integrals) while some of it is meant to be remembered from a book. Im doing my homework right now as I type. Will I ever remember it (Runge-Kutta approximations). No. Even my math teacher says no one memorizes it.

    Robotics is not the best example to use if you are trying to say programmers need math. Most if not all the calculation probably would be better suited to an electrical or mechanical engineer.

    A closer comparison to the Granita might be their iced coffee, or "classic" Frappucino (which is no longer served in most Starbucks, and consisted of blended coffee, ice, and milk/cream.)

    Most Starbucks??? How is it that the three Starbucks I go to all serve the iced coffees. They still sell them.

    I'm a failing engineering student at Iowa State University- or at least I was.. My failing point: math. I can out code some of the instructors in my classes, but I can't do math or memorize functions and derivitives of trigonometric functions.

    Oooo come on. This will not make things any more especially when you can't memorize with subjects like differntial equations. Those equations you have to memorize what to do on top of figuring out what type of equation to use.
