It's about friggin time these parents get off their lazy asses and take matters into their own hands, instead of not properly taking care of their kids and then crying the blues and sueing left right and center when something bad happens. As far as I'm concerned, these morons killed their own kids through shitty parenting.
Yeah, I have one of those discmans. I used ATRAC until the day came where I wanted to rip some files onto a friends computer from the disc. I promptly erased the disc and put mp3's on it when I got home. Luckily, the discman can also play mp3's.
Not sure if you did this on purpose, but SCO never sued IBM over patents. It is merely a contract case. SCO hasn't even sued IBM over copyright infringement in regards to Linux, only over their continued distribution of AIX after the license termination (which is doubtful because of Novell's waiver). SCO speaks out of 3 corners of their mouth (one for the public, one for the courts and one for the SEC).
I found after reading Digg, I might get one comment that would be labeled as insightful, interesting, etc on Slashdot across multiple stories on Digg. It says the site is essentially run by its readers....I'm inclined to think 99% of the readers haven't reached the age of 13 yet. I just removed Digg from my RSS reader a few days ago, I'd never drop Slashdot for that chaotic mess Digg.
you would see that Red Hat's stock is still a lot higher than it was at the beginning of this year. So your point is? (you might have to click the link to make the graph span out for a year).
Lol, some of you people make me laugh. "I've heard" and "somewhat" would seem to suggest that this is a subjective statement, or an opinion if you will. Some people think Linux runs great on old hardware, I think it runs like shit on old hardware. Who's wrong? Same goes for this.
You've heard wrong....LOL
Why would Red Hat kill Fedora? Name me one major company running Oracle on Fedora, or even on CentOS. And how exactly does Red Hat plan to kill off CentOS? Red Hat is just open sourcing yet again their last aquisition, certainly doesn't sound like their killing off anything.
Ummm, possibly something to do with Novell trying to satisfy corporations, their major customers. Make no bones about it, you don't mean two shits to Novell when it comes to their real customers.
Oh, and a little reading on your part would show you that unless you're running Novell Linux Desktop or SLES, you can still use KDE. Of course, sensationalism and conspiracy theories are the norm around Slashdot.
Red Hat's founders have left also. This could just be a case of the person not liking to work for established businesses, and instead prefering startups. He may also be a control freak, and doesn't like Novell running things the way they see fit.
ummm, HELLO!!! That was a SUSE press release, not a Novell one. Novell didn't aquire SUSE until 2003 (aquisition completed in 2004). Novell is still hosting their old press releases on their website.
Ah, yes, zero community backup will result in greater profit. This is why Novell/SUSE has been mopping the floor with Red Hat all these years. (Yes, I'm being sarcastic)
The ability to open a media file without having a little screen pop-up asking you to inform the developers of a crash? I tried Totem numerous times, with the Win32 codecs and without, and the thing just doesn't work. I gave up and used Kaffeine running in Gnome. This was a few versions ago though.
I work at Wal-Mart while I'm completing my education, and I have never ever seen a person kicked out of the store for writing down prices. Hell, people open a package of cookies, eat 2 or 3, and then throw it on the ground and the managers do nothing.
SUSE Pro was never aimed at the business user. Novell Linux Desktop was, and Novell always pushed Gnome on this product anyway. If you even go to their site, go to NLD, all of the demos and screenshots are shown on Gnome, and none on KDE. For SLES, I'm pretty sure a sys-admin doesn't give two shits whether he is using Gnome or KDE to set up a server. A lot of them probably stick with CLI anyways. If a business used SUSE Pro, then they will probably continue to do so, and SUSE Pro will continue to use KDE and Gnome. So where's the beef?
So again, I repeat, as a lot of people seem to miss this, it is only Novell's server products and Novell Linux Desktop that is getting rid of KDE. SUSE will continue to have both.

How the hell was that rampant fanboyism? I merely said that this is not a feature commonly found in Web Browsers (well, I eluded to that fact, which someone who is not completely retarded should have been able to figure out on their own). I never said Google Desktop was any better than MSN Search, Yahoo Desktop, Beagle, etc. I personally think they all suck, and don't use any of them.
And your example was terrible. Google Desktop also runs through a web browser (the sidebar can be shut right off, it is not needed), but neither MSN Search toolbar nor Google Desktop are browsers themselves. So, again, I'm asking which web browser contains this functionality (built-in, incase you missed that part).
Lol, I seriously have to ask, do you work for Microsoft? You sound like a salesman. I do have my doubts though, as you didn't use the word "innovative" in your post 30 times.
Slashdot's stupid lameness filter which is a piece of shit wouldnt let me post that properly.:( Then, it removed all of the XML tags, so it is just a bunch of text.
Since when is "stealing" a GUI (sans trademarks of course) illegal? Which law governs this? (Leaving patents out of this for a minute too)

Lol, and considering most posts on digg are a sentence fragment, Slashdot really has nothing to worry about.

Explain to me how it would die with Novell? Does it really matter whether it forks before or after Novell dies?

Have you tried ogg or mp3?
Well it could help lead to a solution. But since it doesn't matter, I'll just shut up now.
What formats are the media files you are trying to play?

Thx for the tip, cause I'm sure you've never forgotten to do anything in your life :)
Slashdotters making uninformed opinions....well who would've thought?
