How about disabling java in the settings, my OO.org used to take a painfully long amount of time to load, but after disbaling the time went down to something mroe acceptable (probably 1/2 to 1/3 of the time). AFAIK java is only used for advanced things that most people dont use, like macros, live content or other stuff.
I would expect that they said this to try to stop the immediate actions of Microsoft, who are probably not very pleased with this. I would believe that one of the people that have developed this hack will discreetly leak it to some torrent site, after which it will spread like wildfire.
Apparently you don't understand what this bill would do. Various large ISP's have been discussing making the company you connect to pay money to send you data faster (higher priority), so regardless of whether you pay per MB or a fixed fee every month, they can earn even more money by trying to blackmail the sites you are connecting to, by basically saying "pay us money, 'cause it would be a real shame if those packets took such a long time to reach your customer that they went to a competitor of yours, wouldn't it?"
I don't think you understand what parent said, what was meant was that AMD intentionally set their ratings conservatively, showing the average performance instead of the maximal under a certain benchmark.
For tracking terrorists yes, but not for the MPAA/RIAA this is a very valuable asset, if they know that person a sent packets to persons b,c,d, and e, and they know that person a sent the latest lame hit song (after they get in reports from their new rootkit) they then can sue persons b,c,d and e.
This is not GPS, this is your cell-phone provider tracking where you are, down to a resolution most likely more detailed than 300 yards. This is the police wanting details of where you are without a very important reason.
Yes it emulates the older games. However they need to port the code to a certain extent in order to play it. Also AFAIK that ported code sits on the harddisk.
Well then it will obviously be his app that is ditched in favor of a more open app by/.^H^H the masses when they say "dammit this doesn't work. Oh well, lets find another that works correctly."
It stands to reason that quicktime can have some form of DRM, becuase otherwise ABC and other large media conglomerates would be up in arms in regards to iTunes Video Store, where one can "buy" episodes of various TV shows.
Maybe because they didn't really care about the other ways to get in, but all they cared about in this case was their image to the outer world, and thereby being able to say "See, look at us, we patch our flaws immediately".
Now that (officially) they wont log data, does this mean MS antispyware will be set to default remove?

The user that modded parent -1, Redundant was almost even funnier.
Would someone care to enlighten we the proletarians as to what PBX is?

That it's posted on Cnet makes it even more fitting.
But since there are infinetly many of them, then infinetly many of them will only appear to be writing shakespear, while they are in fact researching.
"there is a very good chance that IBM may regain the coveted #18 spot on iSuppli's list this year!"
Whats so special about spot 18?

1) It's probably better than what they have now
2) It's a press release. Of course they cover everything they say in honey.
You mean like Lisa and Dan?

There are much more effective and enjoyable ways to keep warm on cold winter nights. However I would not expect /. to have knowledge of such methods.

Granted I havn't read TFA, but how is this any different from any other relatively complex peice of hardware? And why would it fsck up MS?
But does it run Linux?
Or a Beowulf Cluster?

I for one find it very ironic that CynicZ's post got modded to troll.
Well I for one welcome our new Linux overlords.

Why do they treat our tax money so callously?
Welcome to the wonderful and amazing world of bureaucracy.

Crap. pwned at ./ again. The question is, is that a good thing or a bad thing?
