    How about disabling java in the settings, my OO.org used to take a painfully long amount of time to load, but after disbaling the time went down to something mroe acceptable (probably 1/2 to 1/3 of the time). AFAIK java is only used for advanced things that most people dont use, like macros ,live content or other stuff.

    I would expect that they said this to try to stop the immediate actions of Microsoft, who are probably not very pleased with this. I would believe that one of the people that have developed this hack will discreetly leak it to some torrent site, after which it will spread like wildfire.

    Apparently you don't understand what this bill would do. Various large ISP's have been discussing making the company you connect to pay money to send you data faster (higher priority), so regardless of whether you pay per MB or a fixed fee every month, they can earn even more money by trying to blackmail the sites you are connecting to, by basically saying "pay us money, 'cause it would be a real shame if those packets took such a long time to reach your customer that they went to a competitor of yours, wouldn't it?"

    I don't think you understand what parent said, what was meant was that AMD intentionally set their ratings conservatively, showing the average performance instead of the maximal under a certain benchmark.

    For tracking terrorists yes, but not for the MPAA/RIAA this is a very valuable asset, if they know that person a sent packets to persons b,c,d, and e, and they know that person a sent the latest lame hit song (after they get in reports from their new rootkit) they then can sue persons b,c,d and e.

    Yes it emulates the older games. However they need to port the code to a certain extent in order to play it. Also AFAIK that ported code sits on the harddisk.

    It stands to reason that quicktime can have some form of DRM, becuase otherwise ABC and other large media conglomerates would be up in arms in regards to iTunes Video Store, where one can "buy" episodes of various TV shows.

    Maybe because they didn't really care about the other ways to get in, but all they cared about in this case was their image to the outer world, and thereby being able to say "See, look at us, we patch our flaws immediately".
