to write it, it supported only a subset of VB6 (it's a fucking huge language).

Mobile phone developers are scrambling to ensure that the openness of the Linux operating system does not anger telecoms regulators.
Consumers who run Linux on a PC are used to having full control over the operating system, but should not expect that same level of control on a Linux powered mobile phone, warned Mike Kelley, senior vice president of engineering at PalmSource. The company is in the process of developing a Linux version for mobile phones to replace its current Palm OS. "Phones are not PCs. They tie in to a radio that is regulated," Kelley said at the LinuxWorld conference in San Francisco. "They are tied into very expensive back-end infrastructure that can be seriously disrupted by malfunctioning phones.

GSM encryption is readily crackable and besides, it's only encrypted between base-stations (masts) and phones. Once your conversation reaches the base-station it is decrypted until it reaches your recipient's base-station where it's re-encrypted. So all they need is a set of headphones and access to the network provider's infrastructure to listen to your conversations/read your texts.
As it's a Symbian phone you can download the Nokia SDK (for free) from Forum Nokia and get Carbide++ Express (Eclipse for C++ development) for free from Forum Nokia, and write your own software.

MPEG-4 is a container format. 3GP is a type of MPEG-4 file. The audio/video codecs are tuned for mobile phones
