I believe that Google's voice search app sends everything to the cloud too. In fact, Google ran a free 411 information service just to gather and improve upon their speech recognition database.
I worked with a teacher who ended up having an inappropriate relationship with a student. None of the communication between the two happened on facebook or email, or even phone calls. It was all done with hand written notes. So lets ban pencils and paper from schools. Digital communication is so much easier to trace. I would rather have a log of emails exchanged, or Facebook conversations than having handwritten notes.
I myself am an educator, and work with multiple school districts. I have worked in districts where they have a policy of not friending students, and I happily comply. I had one district which wanted me to completely delete my FB and Twitter accounts, I declined that position. I have way too many friends that have moved or I don't talk to as much as I would like and Facebook is the only way to keep in touch with them. Other districts don't have such policies and I have accepted friend requests from students or made pages where all the students can get up-to-date info on changes in assignments and such. I must say that when I have the ability to communicate with students via Facebook, it makes life a whole lot easier. I also teach extra-cirricualr activities and if there is a change in schedule or place that we are practicing I can get the word out quickest on social media. I keep my FB profile clean, I don't have any pictures that would reflect upon me in an unprofessional manner. I also expect the same from any students who friend me. I have reported a few students who posted pictures of themselves drinking.
I live in a small town, and many of my students go to the same church as I do. I see students as I am running my errands around town, many of them are employed part time at restaurants and other businesses that I frequent. Passing laws to prohibit students and teachers from communicating outside of school is just plain stupid.

I wen through all the websites I use on a regular basis and used LastPass' password generator to generate secure passwords for each. I feel much safer now knowing all my passwords are extremely strong. While the free service should suffice most of your needs, I signed up for the premium service ($12/year) to get the mobile app for my phone.

I don't know if the particular image is copyrighted, but clearly the person in photo is not recognizable. You could put any person in that space suit for that photo and not tell the difference.
There are several games that have come out in recent weeks that I wanted to buy, but do to lack of time to play all of them I haven't bought any. The other night I sat down and played the demo of Civ V, not knowing what to expect since I had not played any of the other games in the series. I spent all night playing the demo and when I reached the end, I knew I needed to play the full game. I purchased it around 3am and Steam started downloading it. Yesterday at the office, I spent a majority of my time reading the game manual. I fell into the "just one more turn" trap and couldn't stop playing last night. I looked at my clock and said it was almost 1am and I have work in the morning. The next thing I knew it was getting light outside. Now today I am running on no sleep, spending my time at work planning my domination of the Ottoman Empire. I think this is how a crack addict must feel.... I am jonesing for my next fix.
This is just going to cause internet prices to go up. The ISP's are not just going to eat the cost, they will pass it on to their customers as additional fees.
Only if the application supports it. Although most future applications should support, many of them currently do not. Also, I would rather use the phone's memory for applications and keep the storage card for all my data.
This is going to be great when it gets integrated into mobile phones. My Moto Droid only has 512MB of for the OS and apps. Recently I have been getting low storage space warnings because of the number of apps I have installed.
Is Google's Picasa for Linux stable yet? I would much rather see a piece of free software from a company that will continue to develop it over the years and that is cross-platform. Seriously, isn't this the second or third time it has changed. They should use either software that is developed and supported by a major company (like Google's Picasa), or they should assign some developers to the project they choose and not change it.
I live in Lancaster county. There are dairy farms all over the place here. In fact there is one less than a mile from my office. If they could build a small shit-powered generator somewhere between that farm and my office, I would not have to worry about backup power for my servers.
Agreed. There are many companies out there that do business with the government. Just because Sony discontinued a feature, doesn't mean they won't let a large customer, such as the Army, not have access to a way of configuring their hardware the way they need it configured.
