There's a few exceptions of course. Primarily the big-name stars Disney brings into their Ghilbi translations.
Yes, but that illustrates a large part of the problem: Rather than bringing in capable voice actors for the dubs, they bring in names that look good on the posters.

Voice acting is a subset of acting that requires specialized talents. Some can do it (Mike Meyers, etc.) and some can't (Billy Bob, etc.)

God I really freakin' can't stand this old complaint. The subtitled text is interpreted into our language just as the dubbed dialog would be, so no matter what, unless you speak the native language of the show, you're getting an interpretation of it in english.
God I really freakin' can't stand this old excuse.

Dub scripts are always edited to match the mouth movements of the animation. Dubbed vocal inflection is always ruined by attempts to make the words fit the mouth movements. Subtitles are not subject to these limitations.

Subtitle scripts are limited only by the talent of the translators. Dubs are limited by the casting directors, voice directors, and actors.

Another essential difference in the voice acting quality: Japanese voice acting is an honored craft. Those that get hired do so because they are the best among many. In America voice acting is what you do when you can't get hired as a real actor, in most cases.

Being good has absolutely nothing to do with whether the major labels sign an artist or not. Case in point: Britney Spears, InSync, etc. ad naseum.
Record labels are in business to make money. The bigger labels sign good musicians (Robert Randolph, etc.) and good entertainers (Britney, etc.) because they know they'll make money.

What's left after no one else wants them is picked up by minor labels, if at all. Just because you can make music doesn't mean you can make listen-able or entertaining music.

One unknown record label that seems to be a refuge for bands that aren't good enough for the big time isn't gonna cut it. Imagine a grocery store that only carried generic house-brand items. Wouldn't be very popular or successful, would it.

iTMS is successful because they've made the proper deals with the right product sources, much like any other successful retailer has to do.
