    No way of knowing who is using the port? I beg to differ.

    MAC Addresses can be cloned, but it's better than nothing. The problem here is as much university policy as it is the incompetent IT staff.

    Hell they could even have people authentify traffic via IPSEC.

    What happens is that the ISP pushes a config file to your cable modem. The throttling is done on your end which is why is it possible (although quite unwise) to illegally uncap the connection altogether.

    I don't know how to take this news.

    It seems like Microsoft managed to gain a kinda big share of the IM market with this move (Because honestly, I don't believe the whole 'merger' thing. Microsoft is going to swallow Yahoo! on this deal) which is pretty bad. I don't want to see Microsoft gain monopoly over the IM market.. Their greed is well known.

    But at the same time it's a pretty good move since more people will be able to communicate regardless of client.

    I block ads simply because they divert my attention from the content. As a matter of fact, It's been awhile since I have seen a single banner now. To people that are as annoyed as myself, I strongly recommend the excellent Adblock and Filterset.G extensions for Firefox. Works like a charm.

    When you start lying on slashdot, you should exclude details, because you kinda got mixed up.

    First of all, you claim that life was good as a teen in the middle to late 70's. In the same paragraph, a few lines later, you claim that the situation got so bad in 1975 that your mother had to go back to working. Now now, correct me if I'm wrong, but 1975 is quite in the middle 70's, no?

    Second, how come your american daughter goes to school in Canada? It's pretty clear you have not moved back 'home' yet, because people were downright mean 'last time you were in Canada' and not 'last time I moved back to Canada'. As a sidenote, every province spends a lot of money on public education each year and we don't consider american schools as 'rich schools', really.


    Based on these two statements you just pulled out of your ass, I assume that the rest of your article is also based on totally fictious facts. This text has absolutely no value at all.
