  1. Moon = Cheese on Slashback: Lapses, Maps, Ludwig Van · · Score: 1, Funny
Apparently the Google Moon site reveals that the moon, on the closest zoom, is made out of something that looks like yellow swiss cheese. Interesting, considering the moon rocks that were brought back had compositions very similar to the earth...

Well, that's at least what I saw when I visited the site a couple of minutes ago.

Based on the amount of money that the entire series has made, I think they could be considered gold bars. By weight, they may even be worth more than gold bars. Wait, those books are freaking huge, nevermind.

Magic! If Harry Potter is making so much money off of these books, he could spare a spell or two to protect the books from being read before the time they go on sale.

  5. Napster's still weird on Dell and Napster Going Directly to Colleges · · Score: 2, Insightful
As far as I know, the way that Napster works is you pay a certain amount of money per month to get infinite downloads. Once you stop paying money, the music you downloaded stops working. Um, based on this info, it sounds like Dell and Napster are trying to find a base of people that will pay money in perpetuity to keep the thousands of songs that they downloaded.

I'd rather go on iTunes (which I do) and download a song for 99 cents and keep it forever and not have to worry about paying upkeep to keep my music playing.

No, it wasn't bad at all. It was rather skilled. Except for hte idiocy of having a console where you actually walk around to control the movement of the character (dangerous as someone mentioned), it might have had me fooled.

It shouldn't be too hard to make a console that has a headset that can do 3D with today's computers. The images would have to be lower-res to compensate for the fact that the console would be rendering two images at the same time, but it would be much more interesting visually.

If Nintendo hasn't hired this guy yet, why haven't all of the other game companies rushed to get him? He has major skills!

  12. Hertz = per second on Measuring Microwave Output From A Laptop? · · Score: 1

I hate to say it, but the Ghz for computers and microwaves are both measuring things in per second, but they're measuring different things. The 2.4Ghz in a computer means 2.4 billion operations per second. The 2.4 Ghz for the microwaves means 2.4 billion oscillations of the photon per second. 13. Violence in VideoGames on Columbine Student on VG Violence · · Score: 3, Insightful

I've always thought that if a kid can't tell the difference between a video game and the real world, and thinks it's okay to shoot people like in a video game, his parents need to step in very quickly and get him help and stop him from playing those games. I've been playing computer games from a young age, and I've never had the urge to actually take out a gun and shoot someone.

  14. Re:Freaking Grind on MMOGs Reaching For Casual Gamers · · Score: 1

Yeah, I agree. There's another barrier into the common person getting into MMORPG's: the cost. Many of the good ones that I know of (World of Warcraft, Everquest) have monthly fees in addition to a one-time cost. I'm not going to shell out $15 a month, plus $60 to buy it initially, plus internet fees when I can go online and play Diablo II or CS and have at least as much fun.

  15. Freaking Grind on MMOGs Reaching For Casual Gamers · · Score: 4, Interesting

That's the thing about MMOGs: there's always going to be someone who is obsessed with the game and have better stuff than you, and because of that, they're going to do better. They're fun, but flawed, just like every other type of game.

I guess part of the RIAA settlements is that they wanted some of the "money" that people made off of the downloading of free music.

Why doesn't anyone ever seem to realize that all of the scientific advancements that have come through manned spaceflight have come at a risk? Astronauts are strapped into a rocket capable of accelerating the space shuttle (no small object) to 10.7 km/s, many miles in the air (above the atmosphere) and then have to re-enter the atmosphere and land safely after slowing down from many times the speed of sound. I also currently use a MX700. However, I use it with Windows XP and Firefox. Silly me, for the first couple of days I forgot to install the drivers for the mouse and keyboard, but they still worked sans special key support. Basically, I had a wireless mouse and keyboard without special keys working. Once i installed the drivers, I got all of the functionality of every buttion. However, one point that I disagree with the article on is that the backwards and forwards buttons on the mouse seem to work in Firefox. Admittedly, not all of the keyboard functions do, but I've never really used many of them.
