    Why are you using Linux desktop? Windows 7 and MacOS X deliver you a premium experience without having to worry about broken shit like this.

    I haven't looked at the commercial or what the Lumia 920 can actually do. If they could reproduce the results of the Optical Image Stabilization feature closely enough with different gear, it's fine for me. However if the commercial shows things which are too far from what the phone can actually do, then I consider that lying.

    Unless the commercial explicitly says something like "shot with a real Lumia 920", I really don't see this as a bad sin. If they could use other tools to show the consumer what the OIS feature is about, that's fine. There's a lot of stuff that is "faked" in advertisements anyway.

    In my head I ran various scenarios in which a fresh 32-bit OS would be needed (older hardware, 16-bit apps, 32-bit drivers)...but in all those special cases you could just run Windows 7. I just can't see why they are putting resources to maintain a niche 32-bit flavor of Windows 8!

    I stopped playing games when I went to uni, shortly after HL came out. In my mind it's a modern game, and it's things like Quake and doom that are old.

    Heh. I somehow tend to count Quake as a "modern" game and Doom an old one. My division is really about the full-polygon engine, a technology which we are still using. Of course the new titles have taken it to completely new levels in regard of detail and physics simulation. Unfortunately sometimes the complex world is just props and a tube run in which you must press X when the game tells you to. :S In a way HL2 was one of the games that really started this trend.

    The reason why so many people stick with XP, or Vista, or even Windows 2000 is because it just works.

    BTW there is a Japanese guy who has made a improved version of Windows 2000 KERNEL32.DLL, making it possible to run some software that should work on XP only.

    I'm 27 and don't drink at all.

    I'm also 27 and recently stopped drinking both booze and caffeine. They just make my head fuzzy these days and I thought I'd experiment with a life where I use no substances. Recommended.

    What bothers always about the concept of reincarnation (with a carnal body, so not TFA), is that if you don't have any memories or experiences of your past lives, what is left, then? How do they make any impact? An explanation could be that the previous experiences shape life in some way that the person cannot sense.

    The internal microphone and camera of laptops can be too easily enabled (and silently without you knowing it). Typically you don't need them all the time anyway. There should be a clear on/off switch for them in every laptop, just like you have for WiFi.

    The kernel has been in a very good shape for a long time already. It's already a "It Just Works(TM)" thing. The aspects that I am interested seeing advancing are in the userspace: desktop environment and games.
