I have no problem with Barry. I am sure he is a fine gentleman. I do not, however, condone the ad hominem attacks he launched during several recent debates. It is poor style, and I frankly do not think it is proper.

I will disregard your suggestion, but I will thank you for making it.
I understand that you're concerned about maintaining a high level of karma, Barry, but in order to maintain it you can't go posting comments that you know will get you moderated down.
Indeed, that's the sort of situation that takes care of itself. The managers are without the basic skills to manage a firm, and thus the labour leaves. And without talented labour, a firm is nothing. It may struggle on for a while before dying, but it will eventually die unless the situation is corrected.
If you do not need such advice, then why do you ask such basic questions? Indeed, I think you may need to study the literature on karma. To keep the information fresh in your mind, you know.
An author creates the sentences of a book. He or she brings them together into paragraphs. He or she then brings the paragraphs together into chapters, and finally brings together the chapters to produce the final book.
The idea of "bringing together" various concepts does not concern itself with who created such concepts, or whether or not the existed beforehand. All that matters is that the concepts exist, and together they form a greater whole. Be them books or the WWW, they are combinations of smaller parts.

I'm British. Nevertheless, many Canadians have learned well from our example. They are indeed amongst us as the most polite people around.
Indeed, you did lose the debate to him quite badly, Barry. Like we discussed before, that's no reason for you to launch ad hominem attacks. The best thing to do when you lose a debate is to lose with honour. You can always say, "Sir, you have bested me in this discussion. I admit my points were not founded on the truth, and my arguments were without substance. I henceforth will admit that you were the victor. Jolly good debate, sir."
Indeed, it sounds like the problem may be more a case of there just not being anywhere for the staff to advance to. It would be pointless, and probably more problematic than beneficial, to artificially create managerial positions just to make the staff feel better.
Rather than waste money on useless managerial positions, give each staff member a raise. They'll get the financial benefits of having a higher position within the firm, while at the same time keeping a structure that is currently fairly functional, and without the overhead of excessive management.
Talk directly with each and every member of the IT staff, first as a group and then in private. Find out what they want. Find out what they expect. Collect all the data you can directly from them. Then discuss your findings with the CIO.
After you come up with a preliminary plan, again, discuss it with the staff. Get their input. Don't just come up with a plan and then implement it. Use all the feedback you can get, so that you create something that benefits everyone (potentially).
Do you not have the moderator points to moderate up that particular message? I thought a man of your stature and girth would be up to his neck in karma points to distribute.
The user agent strings are so long these days just because there is so much layering taking place. You've got Gecko running on Linux, and then you have Firefox built upon Gecko, and then you have Flock derived from Firefox. Considering that each portion is important, it does make some sense to list them all. Now things might get really interesting of somebody starts using Flock as a platform upon which they add even more functionality.
Have you considered starting your own news site, Barry? Indeed, considering that you're such an expert on all matters you should easily be able to create and run such a website, no? At least it would have proper links, wouldn't it, Barry?
Please refrain from launching ad hominem attacks when you're losing a debate, Barry. It's just bad form. It is often an indicator of a complete debate loss. When one cannot debate on the points of the issue, then one must often resort to name calling, and thus has lost the debate.
Berners-Lee defined HTTP and HTML, and then proceeded to combine the two into the useful system of the WWW. As such, he did bring them together , even if he did also define them. While you're correct about gopher inspiring such developments, you are incorrect to suggest that he did not bring together HTTP and HTML.
I just want to give a big thanks! to Sid, even if he doesn't read this. He's done us all a great favour by taking time out of his no doubt very busy day to give us some insight into game development today.
Have you done some of those Google searches yet? Please, go find out for yourself that what I said was correct. Do some research for yourself, so that you don't have to take my word for it.
But they won't be able to come out and play 'cause mommy says they can't
Until they grow big enough to smack mommy right in the face. And then they go out and play extra hard, just to make up for all of the years they weren't able to play.
And if you had read my post you would have found that many sites that are far more representative of the general public (ie. non-technical sites) have reported increased Firefox usage. Do a quick Google search for examples.
I proved hkmwbz wrong on a number of issues a little while back. I think others have done the same, as well, if you look at his signature. Since he can't debate via the use of facts and the truth, it appears that he must resort to ad hominem attacks.
It's best just to ignore his mockery of true discussion and debate.
I totally just came up with a new word that emo teen freaks can use: flock'd! It's when your blog is innundated with hits from other Flock-using emo punks because your woe-is-me blog just hit 3rd place on the Flock Top Ten Blogs list.
That, or when you're playing football and you get cleats square in your gonads. You're flock'd then, too.

I'm glad to see that you took that debate loss with honour. Good show, Barry!

That said, when somebody does something worthy of appreciation, I will let them know that. Common courtesy, you know.

Can you name some of the more significant pornography studios which have accepted Blue-Ray as a standard?
