  4. Easy fix! on How To Diagnose a Suddenly Slow Windows Computer? · · Score: 1

Whenever I work on a computer, and EVERYONE has the slowing down problem. It sounds like you have a program bogging it down. 1. Run msconfig, and go to startup, and uncheck anything that you don't need. 2. Right click My Computer, and go to properties. Go to the advanced tab, and it will be the second button in the middle (visual effects, if I remember right). There will be a few options checked there. Uncheck the ones that animate, fade, and slide, then click apply and okay. 3. Max your virtual memory / paging file. With some computers, that helps out a HUGE amount. For a 32 bit processor, the max is 4095 mb. I don't know what it is for a 64 bit OS (since you have 4 gigs of ram) but I would try to go the highest you could. Hope you get this over the 600+ relpies, and I hope it helps! =)

I agree with this 100%. Whenever I have to burn something, I toss it on cheap DVD or CD's, because it probably won't be needed a month from that point. I save all of my music on an external drive, along with backup documents. I also have a hard drive in a closet that has my music backed up. Hard drives last a loooooong time. When I pulled my family's hard drive out (hadn't been on for about 10 years) everything ran fine without a problem. It was a 4 gig drive...but thats a different story. =)

  6. try a whole elementary school..... on How Do I Talk To 4th Graders About IT? · · Score: 1

For my senior project, I had to present my senior project. Well, it was IT related, along with different lines of code. I also included a video game that I had written, and had a live demonstration. Kids LOVE video games, since most of them can't play them in school. But if they get to learn about them in school....its a win win situation, they learn something and you give a good presentation. Like it says a few posts up..."Don't teach, entertain instead" is the truth. Linux would probably bore them...but if you had a picture of a dancing penguin, your chances would be a bit better to get a laugh, and see smiles. Give them something hands on, because they can play with it. But all in all, if you don't enjoy giving the presentation, they won't enjoy it and be even worse off. Have fun, its won't be too bad. =)

I am from the future. Welcome to America, the land and home of free speech. But, if we think we suspect you of doing ANYTHING, you are going to jail to prevent any crime. Thats how we, BigBrothers, believe it should be! We get off to security, and making sure that YOU can't live your lives. We want to make sure everyone is legal, and not intending to harm the US. Illegal aliens? Not a problem any more. With space lasers, we zap anyone who is crossing the border. Don't think of going to Canada or Mexico illegally, either. We will zap those trying to commit treason by leaving. We make it so you don't have to worry about security. We take the strain off of you. We think for you. We judge for you. Welcome to America. 8. Songs for the deaf on Text Messaging Device For the Hearing Impaired? · · Score: 5, Interesting

The college that I currently go to is one of about 4 in the United States that has American Sign Language as a major. Since sign is the second language on the campus, this guarantees that deaf students will be more likely to come here. Several of my friends here are deaf, including several teacher. From what I can tell, many of them will use the Sidekicks for communication, and one of the teachers also uses a blackberry. I'm assuming that you can go to the phone company, and they will more than likely have text plans for those who are deaf.

Turns out that I discovered an unsecured POS terminal. Not just any POS terminal, but this was part of a nation-wide store chain. Any monkey with the slightest computer knowledge would have been able to sniff credit card numbers, account numbers, etc. with little to no problem. The odds of being caught were also slim to none. I made all the contacts I needed to, and recieved a phone call a half hour later. "Why did you breach my computer system? You DO know what you did is illegal, right?" "Look sir, it could have been me or a person sniffing credit card numbers. I am helping you." And yes, there are still honest people in the world...
