Does anyone else know how smart the 'average IT' person is, and how desperate companies have been to hire them? Those numbers only say that IT has gotten off easier than the rest of the job markets. That article is stupid.

I'd probably, just for the fun of it, go buy some chrome spray paint, polish, and use it for a focused solar furnace. Boil water, make electricity. I like that better than solar panels. Or I might buy some of the same chrome paint, polish it, and focus a pinpoint on the moon. O man, there is a million fun things to do with that and get in trouble heheheee.

yes and the reason this is true? Because when you purchase a soda at a restaurant you are actually buying the most profitable item on their menu. It's probably 30 cents for a large drink anywhere. That includes ALL costs; employee wages, cup, lid, straw, electricity, ice, water, syrup, carbon dioxide, realestate. I used to work for BK, and its been probably 10 years but it was 15 cents back then.

In an answer to colors however, I can't explain how soothing the old amber on black is. It even emotionaly makes me feel better. On my linux systems I use VIM also. I tone the amber down a little darker. Almost an orange. Very soothing color combination.

Ah crap, I got work to do, but this could get WAY better :D OnStar is an excuse for GM to get paid by Verizon AND still charge you way to much for the pieces of crap that auto makers are turning out these days. Why are you worried about the age recommendation and appearence question? The snap kits in question are an excellent way to learn and are quite expansive. The first labs I used had something extremely similar, and that was a 'professional' set. The only arguments I have against the sets you are talking about is the price and what happens when you get over a couple megahertz. They are way to expensive and that is a big setback to education today. You may also find niches and secrets and hardware hacks with sets like that. New resources some may not know about. \n

I'm 35, and have worked with electronics since I was 13. I still play with legos :). If you really 'enjoy' something every opportunity is a unique chance to learn something exciting. It's a good thing to keep up with something that helps me touch roots with my childhood. For you its never to late to start. Have fun.

Lets all dress up like the guys from Geek Squad and make this article concrete OK. Get it over with. I don't make tons of money with my tech knowledge so I guess I'm not a real Geek. They are much more satisfying and all your bitchy programmer friends will say, "oh, thats cool!". I'd love to help you out as I have several books but they are unfortunately 300 miles from me in a storage unit. You will need two, though. One that is sort of like an 'Electronics for Dummies' and one that gets negative reviews because of its cold form as they usually delve deep into abstracts and provide mountains of information. Hehehe, I have the 'Handbook of Electronics Calculations' here with me though. If you find electronics interesting that book could have you busy for years to come. Heh. Good luck.

What other business do you have the advantage of turning out a crap product and expect people to pay for it sight unseen? To illustrate, I wanted to see 'I am Legend' but to rent it was money and time (thanks NF) and to buy it cost 22 bucks. I saw it on Limewire and nabbed it. I hated it. I'm glad I didn't buy it or rent it. If the 'Art' industries actually had to please the customers like other companies they would go straight to the crapper. I guess it makes me different. I've downloaded whole CD's for free, liked them, and then went out and bought them. Movies 2. I can't wait for AVP2 to be released even though its not that good. I still want it. 'Sides, the music industry has screwed itself over. I can remember you bought a Cd/tape and it was good for as long as you liked it. Now its making sure you stay on the 'cutting edge' of music or your behind everyone else. It's no longer how good it is but who heard it first. I also agree with your Indie thoughts. My friend is in a band and I can't buy his CD's from the record labels anyways. There is just something so much more satisfying to pay the people who make the music than the companies that think they deserve something. Ugh, I gottuh quit, I could go on about this forever.
