And it rings you to ask if it's a significant sound?
After 30 minutes...I'll get a buzz saying:
"Do you want me to remember the fart sound I keep picking up? And by the way, you better get some fresh air"
I've got one from 1993, an old DX-33 with a 5.25 floppy, 3.5 floppy, VESA Local Bus Diamond video card. It had a 214 MB drive which died and was replaced with a 540 MB drive that I had to add a Bios Extender card so it would be recognized.
The freakin thing cost $2500 brand new and I think I'm still paying for it (too many debt consolidations).
I stripped it down, jammed it full of 3Com 509B cards and ran Linux router software (LEAF Project on Sourceforge) for years with no problem.
And I think I remember reading a few years ago about the contingency plan in case something went wrong, that NASA would cut communication (if it was even still possible) and say the mission and men were lost along with some inspirational words from President Nixon.
I don't remember where I read it, but I do remember thinking....damn. If they were stranded on the moon with some technical problem, Ground Control was going to say...tough crap, you guys are on your own. We've written you off.
As someone who lives in the area and works in downtown Rochester, I can state that we do not use U of R as our benchmark as to when to shut down.
It's a function of how much of a hard-ass your boss is. If he/she owns a 4WD and has a good work ethic, you're screwed. I've had to dig out waist deep snow down my driveway to get to work as it wasn't called off.
My 9th grade Social Studies teacher told the story that to motivate the workers to dig a certain distance, they would put a wiskey barrel at the stopping point for the day. Dig to there, and the rest of the day you have off and can drink your wiskey.
Either that was true and brilliant, or incredibly derragatory to Irish. The teacher was Irish, so who knows.
Residential: In US, black is hot, green is ground and white is neutral assuming single phase. If there is a second hot wire (12/3 for example), then that one is usually red.
Commercial: Three-Phase I haven't dealt with it in 15+ years...so anything I think I know is probably wrong.
There are online calculators for wire size vs distance, etc. Google is your friend on that one.
If you really care (I know you don't), I take the different arguments of things i care about...research the topic myself using both left and right sources and make up my own mind. Just because someone has a blog doesn't mean they are biased....nor does it mean they are fair.

Riiiight.
Because no one could stuff a ballotbox, eh?
Ask Mayor Daily in Chicago how secure they are.
In all fairness, everywhere they drove during the test was downhill.
They forgot to mention the Forward Mounted, Cannon Fired Grappling Hook (TM).
The instructions were a little vauge, but the pictures showed the driver aiming on a HUD at a City Bus....so you fill in the blanks.
Boo fucking Hoo.
I worked construction outside of Phoenix and didn't have AC in my car for the ride home.
I survived, as do many others.
There was a story a few months ago that said they could get data to last a BILLION years.
I scoff at your weak, lame figure of 1000 years.
If it's at all like my house, it's filled with bitching and nagging.

I should have stated it was a Zeos...

WHAT?!?!?!
What sort of evil machinary is this?
Next, I suppose, you're going to tell me it only has one core.
How would the judge figure out which one to give the house, car, and alimony to?
The one who looks closest to Rosie O'Donnell
No, they wouldn't vanish.... but there'd be no reason for men to interact with them anymore.
There goes my second job.

I tip my hat to you sir, you are a genius. If I could mod you up, I would.
If we can just get them to all register a stone carving sample,
we can expand the database and credit those responsible.
Has it been given to a 3 yr old for an hour? Or my brother?
Either one could be given a bowling ball in an empty room...and 5 minutes later come out with a bucket full of pieces.
I think even more alarming is the fact that Zango didn't get laughed out of the courtroom
You mean like SCO?
Thank you, thank you....let the Karma flow ;)
I say we blast off and nuke the site from space...it's the only way to be sure.

When I read stories like this, I combine swear words in combinations I never thought possible.
So when they build one or two of these "Farms" and find out....whoops, we underestimated their effectiveness and costs...then what?
