    The instructions were a little vauge, but the pictures showed the driver aiming on a HUD at a City Bus....so you fill in the blanks.

    I've got one from 1993, an old DX-33 with a 5.25 floppy, 3.5 floppy, VESA Local Bus Diamond video card.
    It had a 214 MB drive which died and was replaced with a 540 MB drive that I had to add a Bios Extender card so it would be recognized.

    The freakin thing cost $2500 brand new and I think I'm still paying for it (too many debt consolidations).

    I stripped it down, jammed it full of 3Com 509B cards and ran Linux router software (LEAF Project on Sourceforge) for years with no problem.

    And I think I remember reading a few years ago about the contingency plan in case something went wrong, that NASA would cut communication (if it was even still possible) and say the mission and men were lost along with some inspirational words from President Nixon.

    I don't remember where I read it, but I do remember thinking....damn. If they were stranded on the moon with some technical problem, Ground Control was going to say...tough crap, you guys are on your own. We've written you off.

    As someone who lives in the area and works in downtown Rochester, I can state that we do not use U of R as our benchmark as to when to shut down.

    It's a function of how much of a hard-ass your boss is. If he/she owns a 4WD and has a good work ethic, you're screwed.
    I've had to dig out waist deep snow down my driveway to get to work as it wasn't called off.

    My 9th grade Social Studies teacher told the story that to motivate the workers to dig a certain distance, they would put a wiskey barrel at the stopping point for the day. Dig to there, and the rest of the day you have off and can drink your wiskey.

    Either that was true and brilliant, or incredibly derragatory to Irish.
    The teacher was Irish, so who knows.

    Uh, wait a minute.

    Residential:
    In US, black is hot, green is ground and white is neutral assuming single phase.
    If there is a second hot wire (12/3 for example), then that one is usually red.

    Commercial:
    Three-Phase I haven't dealt with it in 15+ years...so anything I think I know is probably wrong.

    There are online calculators for wire size vs distance, etc. Google is your friend on that one.

    Ha, I get sarcasim.

    I don't trust them either....

    If you really care (I know you don't), I take the different arguments of things i care about...research the topic myself using both left and right sources and make up my own mind. Just because someone has a blog doesn't mean they are biased....nor does it mean they are fair.

    Restricting your news intake or information sources reduces your chances of getting the truth.

    When I read stories like this, I combine swear words in combinations I never thought possible.

    So when they build one or two of these "Farms" and find out....whoops, we underestimated their effectiveness and costs...then what?
