Depends on your definition of delayed, I guess:
From Wikipedia (which is accurate from my recollection of events):
Mac OS X v10.5 has been the subject of multiple delays. When first discussed in June 2005, Apple CEO Steve Jobs had stated that Apple intends to release Leopard at the end of 2006 or early 2007.[3] A year later, this was revised to "Spring 2007", and on April 12, 2007, Apple issued a statement that its release would be delayed until October 2007 because of the development of the iPhone.[4]
If your definition of early 2007 includes Spring 2007, which it might, then it has not been delayed twice. And since they were intentionally vague on the first release date, you could give them the benefit of the doubt I suppose.
They should also not be allowed to vote on any legislation until they have retaken the oath of office ("defend the constitution..."), as public demonstration that they have violated it all ready, and are no longer fit to serve until that new oath is in effect. or something.
Apple said in one of the interviews (the Time one?), that they announced now because they had to get FCC certification, and one that happens it can't be kept secret anymore. And they'd rather announce it then let it get leaked by the FCC. They also mentioned that the certification process is months long.
Unbelievably glorious and the ringtone on my phone?
Intriguing, do you have the entire song as your ringtone? or just part of it?
Of course, now that you have provided me with the inspiration for using firefly as a ringtone, the Hero of Canton seems like it would work well (especially if your name happened to be jayne, which alas, mine is not).
What I want is to be able to watch movies that I buy.
As hard as it may be for you to believe, I buy my movies, I buy my music, I even bought the family pack of OSX so that I could legally put it on more than one machine at home.
I want to watch movies without the content creators forcing me to watch ads, without them deciding that I'm required to repurchase the same content over and over again, because a nifty new device that came out requires a different format.
I want to be able to build a HTPC that can store all my movies, and I can decide which one to watch without putting in DVD. I want to be able to rip my DVD's to my laptop's computer so that when I go on that 4 hour flight, i have a selection of movies that I can watch that will be a little more battery friendly. I want to be able to backup my kids DVD's so that when they inevitably destroy the disc, I can make another copy for them to watch.
DRM doesn't stop pirates, it stops normal people from using their content.
...to allow us to use our legally purchased content. The movie industry sure is on our side! Maybe next year they will allow us to skip chapters! or fast-forward! Can you imagine how much praise and rejoicing there will be? I can't wait until we have earned their good graces!
You hit cmd-space and type the first few letters of the application or file name. then you use the arrow keys to select it (usually the top item) and hit enter.
If it's the top item, just hit command-return instead of using the arrow keys. Much, much faster.
The real advantage to the improved imaging from microsoft is they have done away with the Hardware Abstraction Layer. That means I can create one image for many different systems. In theory I could use the same image on a HP desktop as on a Sony laptop. This is a very nice enhancement.
I'm no expert here, but, what? I would think that a HAL (Hardware abstraction layer), would help in creating a univseral image for many systems, since the hardware is abstracted out.
Plus I've not heard of anywhere that Vista has the HAL removed from the system, though, I'm not that caught up in all the technical deep plumbing of Vista.
umm, the parent comment is strictly in regards to the grandparents comment on plot.
Your logic implies that no book (except those choose your own adventure books), movies or tv shows have plot - since the viewer has no say on outcome or cannot make a persistant change to the Universe.
A plot does not in any way indicate that the user has the ability to change the story.
Now, maybe you weren't replying at all about plot. In that case you probably should have started a new discussion, or made it clear that "ok sure, they do have a plot, but I don't want just a plot, I want to make a permanent, measurable change in the story's arc - unlike almost any other genre of entertainment. I'll hold this MMORPG to a higher level of standard then any other entertainment medium I have - and then complain about it!"
One big problem I've always felt about targeted advertising is making sure the intended target is the actuall target.
When a family shares a computer, and little sis sees the ads for Axe body spray and Mom sees the adds for new golf clubs and dad sees the adds for femine hygiene products, well, what purpose is actually served?
Or when the targeted advertising hits somewhat embarrasing subjects and you are using somebody else's computer. Imagine going over to Dad's to help out a computer problem and seeing tons of porn popups, or showtunes, or viagra ads. Or showing mom something cool on your computer and her seeing internet dating, porn, perperation H, whatever.
Or, all this information is collated and 50 years from now when you run for president, and all the information is "leaked" cause your not microsofts favorite candidate and it turns out that you liked politically sensitive pasttimes, like Basetall (who knows what will be politically sensitive in 50 years)
All 10 of us helped shatter the record! If this isn't proof enough of why games should be simultaneously released for mac and pc's users then I don't know what is.
(yes this is a joke, don't worry about it. All mac users, I know there are more than 10 of you out there. and PC users, I know that the pitiful amount of macusers in the game didn't make much of a difference in sales numbers)
Remember what the rumor was for the entry level price of the iPod mini before they where released? Well I don't either, but the rumors where a lot less than the current price ($250). If I remember correctly, it was in the 199 price range or something.
The great thing about rumors is that you can put $5000 dollars woth of material into a $99 dollar product and make up the difference in volume(woo-hoo!), and sell anything like hotcakes.
The last packers TD was after the so-called questionable call. So if the Redskins TD would have stood the score would have been 21-20 with 2:35 to play.
But after the TD was called back, the pack intercepted the redskins on the next play, letting Favre drive down the field against a demoralized 'skins defense. Next thing you know, TD packers, and two-point conversion (to make it a two TD game) sealed the win with barely no time left.
I'm a packers fan, happy we got to the bye with a 4-4 record, and hoping we face a collapsing 5-3 vikings in two weeks. I'm not sure that the call was a good one, and not sure if the pack could have gotton anymore points if the TD would have stood. But there was plenty of time on the clock.
Everyone uses a mac today

Says the reviewer:
In the early days of Apple versus Microsoft we had a real culture war, command line versus GUI. Windows won.
Actually, the Mac won. Its just that nobody used a mac, they just waited for another company to make a good enough implementation at an acceptable price before switching (notice I didn't say a cheap second-rate rip-off, I'm getting better! honestly!). Pretty much the entire industry uses the GUI way, not the command line way.
(Arguments that its Xerox's GUI, some people use a command-line, There's a command-line in Mac OS X now aside.)
What he said plus iTunes needs to offer a discount for an album if you had already paid for one of the songs and decided you really liked it and wanted the whole album (If I buy 3 of the songs for the album individually, I should get the 2.97 off when I decide I want to purchase the album later)
It would also kick ass if iTunes let you redownload songs you've already paid for.
And freakin' fill out your partial albums already. I've been waiting to get a legal copy of the gary jules Tears for Fears cover "Mad World" but they won't complete the album
It was joss. And as *i* recall, she does mention it on the DVD's
D'oh! and here I am without my Firefly DVD's to confirm your story. But I concede defeat (bet you didn't know we where in battle, did ya) to the superior firefly fan. I pledge to work harder to complete my geekdom.
It always surprises me to spot her though, because she somehow looks MUCH different in Firefly that in anything else
According to the commentary on one of the firefly episodes, she says that "they" wanted her to put on weight for the role of kaylee. Yea, put on weight! in Hollywood! for a television show! on a girl! crazy.
I think it worked, very cute she was in the show.
("they" where not precisely defined, that I remember. If it was Joss himself, or the other exec. producer, or Fox (I doubt it), or the casting director, or Santa Claus was not mentioned.)
But isn't this a conflict of interest? If MS gets additional revenue from an anti-virus program (especially if that program is a subscription based program), then wouldn't there be internal pressure to make the OS "not as secure" so they can get additional money from there customers? If all of these security initiatives to make the OS more secure pay off, then the kill the market for there own anit-virus products.
Plus it seems odd to make somebody pay more money to overcome some limitations in the original product, kind of like saying "here we sold you a crappy OS, pay us money and we'll protect you from our mistakes! errrrmmmm, but no guarantes, if our anti-virus software doesn't work you can't sue us")
Of course, there is only so much any OS can do from protecting users from being stupid, and I guess that is what the anti-virus software does. But if the anti-virus software can protect customers from being stupid, couldn't the OS too? (thus negating the previous argument of "there is only so much any OS can do from protecting the users from being stupid")
I don't know if bundling the Anti-Virus software would be any better, then you get anti-trust concerns. Plus I think it is extremely important to have multiple Anti-Virus software vendors, if there is only one Anti-Software program (which is what would happen if MS bundled the program with the OS), then it would be a lot easier for virus writers to figure out how to bypass the safe-guards.
Well, those are my rambling thoughts. In conclusion, I guess I think MS should stay out of the anti-virus software market. Maybe they should concentrate on putting better hooks into the OS so that other software vendors could to their jobs better; or better yet, just make the damned OS more secure.
just so you know

It's at least debatable, not cut and dried.

Kind of an interesting concept - anybody know of any other electronic device that takes optional amounts of batteries? My question: Of all the characters you've played, which one do you use the most when sitting on the toilet?
Metrowerks sold their x86 compiler technology (to Nokia) about 6 months before Apple announced the switch.
Metrowerks is also owned by Freescale (Motorola), the makers of PowerPC chips.
Codewarrior was competing against a free development environment (XCode) in their primary market.
It's no wonder they stopped making it for Macs.
