I have been for a while sketching out a musical idea to use the number sequence of PI to generate a theoretically 'never ending' melody (decimal can be converted to Hex or any number to fit any scale) and the human DNA sequence (ATCGDP) as the trigger for rhythm section instruments with a human heart beat to set the tempo.
I thought this would make a great interactive (the heartbeat can be from the hand of a listener on a sensor) 'musical statue' in a public place and stream the midi data or something similar.
I haven't had time to develop this past the theory, or to develop a clear philosophical reason for the work (otherwise it will not appeal to the art world) but any collaboration would be welcomed.
I guess I should have run to the patent office rather than post on a public forum!
But seriously, blackbox is a fecking great idea, disaster recovery.. no problem sir. I can't tell you how much I want a black box stuffed full of my goodies... there is long queue behind me who are equally excited. Anyone got a cost for one yet?
I'm beta testing iPlayer too and am having similar problems. No Firefox support, so using IE I try to download the iPlayer app only to be challenged for my BBC supplied username/password.. and get the error 'Sorry your password is too short'. Not been able to watch anything as yet.
The service is being taken offline for 24 hours on Monday to deploy an upgrade according to the latest email from the BBC.
I have a few hundred million pounds sterling, have a morbidly obese BMI and would like to spend all my money on launching my very fat self into space so that I can raise awareness of my right to lauch my morbidly obese self into space with my own cash money. If I need to pay off a few politicians in order to achieve my dream, then can you please indetify yourselves and let me know how much I need to pay you.
I wonder how you can accurately tell the age of a cartoon character in order to establish if they are a minor... The Simpsons debuted on December 17, 1989 (Happy 17th Birthday tomorrow Lisa Simpson;0)
My Ipod is used to transport and play music I have composed and recorded in my own home studio, am I supposed to pay royalities to Universal to listen to my own copyrighted music?
Arabs being of semitic heritage themselves, I fail to see how such a thing is plausible.
You are right; Semites are the decendants of Shem, the oldest son of Noah and include Arabs and Jews.
The table of nations in Genesis 10 begins by listing Noah's immediate children:
Ham, forefather of the southern peoples (Hamitic Africa)
Shem, forefather of the middle peoples (Semitic Arabia)
Japheth, forefather of the northern peoples (Japhetic Europe)
Yes sadly a Bashkirian Airlines Tupolev 154 (Flight 2937) travelling from
Moscow to Barcelona carrying 12 crew and 57 passengers, 52 of whom were children
who had won a competition to travel to Spain, collided mid air with a DHL cargo
Boeing 757 over the German town of Überlingen.

When my bank calls me they try the same gag; ask me for my details for security reasons.
I generally refuse and demand that they authenticate themselves by telling me the first and second characters of my password for security reasons, which they invariably provide.
Of course if you share the phone number with someone who wants to get access to your bank password they only need to make an excuse and ask the bank to ring back in 5 minutes, and ask for the third and fourth characters and it probably wont be hard to guess the rest given the first four characters and empty out your bank account.
Sounds very much like what the cleaning lady Virgin sent in to Olympic Studios did when they bought it. She threw out all the dusty old tapes the last owners left behind.. Hendrix, Zep and a few other masters...
As a Brit who pays for the BBC, I personally think all BBC programming should be public domain in the same way as images and content on NASA sites are. The BBC are utterly incompetent in business, tbh best they give it away and make us look really generous rather than make the UK license fee payer look like we are represented by idiots.
I wrote a slashdot post on this very subject back in March 2006 http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=179975&cid=149 07572 as follows;
I guess I should have run to the patent office rather than post on a public forum!
But does it run...

anything more than an hours drive for me turns into a swim.
At least ships still float when you get a blue screen of death

TCAS was over-ridden apparently.A nice example of Preferential Voting is the way Nominet the .UK NIC runs elections to the Policy Advisory Board.
Breakdown of the election results here http://www.nominet.org.uk/policy/pab/election/resI too aplaud this study and wonder how much of his employers time was spent creating this report.
