I have tried learning some courses from MIT courseware. I even create a site to write down what I can learn: http://learningocw.blogspot.com/. I'm force to abandon such attempt because I can't access many study materials. I live in a third world country and there is no good library here. Buying the study materials is really out of the question since the book price is very expensive relative to average salary here.
It's gonna be a great service for me (and people like me) if I can at least access all the lectures.
The 3-in-1 rule in Jakarta (meaning that 1 cars must have 3 passengers) only applies to certain roads at certain time of the day. The going rate about 2 years ago was around 50 cents. Anyway, you can almost consistently escape capture by the police if you positioned your car correctly while driving. Yeah, they actually look inside your car to find violator.
You do not have the right to expect all the people who work for you to give you free work so you can make more money, because that's not their job.
I said work harder, not work longer. While still within the agreed working hours, it is my right to tighten the working hours. Less short break and less conversation while still within working hours.
Something many of the folks don't like to admit on/. is that most of the executives at successful companies put in as many if not more hours than the average worker.
Amen to that.
Usually they aren't making quite enough money to afford hiring more staff, but they have the potential for more revenue that will then kick them into the next level where they can grow, but to get there they have to work current staff harder.
I own a business and I can testify to that condition. When I hit a revenue limitation, sometimes there simply is no way to jump to the next level without everybody sacrificing something. Although I forced my employees to work harder, I had also cut my own salary.. hard. Just to impress how large I cut my own compensation, my employees often nudged me to buy a better cellphone because at that time their cellphones were more expensive than mine. (At that time, I sold my old cellphone and bought used Ericsson T39M for around US$25).
But did all of my employees accept my reasonable demand to sacrifice by working harder? Nooo! There were some who declined to work harder and make many fusses about it. Of course once everything had settled down, I know to whom I give better compensations.
I can't speak for other countries but in Indonesia, for almost every big transaction (buying car, house, etc), buying in cash is always way cheaper than financing it. 10% discount for cash, compared to 1 year financing, is pretty common.
Mod parent up. Store your pee immediately after the first sign of trouble, which is when the water portion of your pee is still high enough. If you store your pee by the time you're dehydrating, the water portion of your pee will be very low.
Um, how could he be 'wrong' about the employee looking at porn?? Either the women (and/or kids) are naked and fucking, or they ain't. Well, maybe that particular employee is planning to rig the picture such that it will auto-launch a self-print script to public printer?
As parent stated, when the problem to be solved is too easy, having uber programmer is useless since the works quality of average programmer and uber programmer is similar. At easy problems, you can throw many average programmers (with some consideration to mythical month effect) to speed up the work. At difficult problems, you must use uber programmers since 10 average programmers might not be able to progress at all
Therefore an efficient company should consider the problem on hand and employ a mix between uber programmer and average programmer. Morale will goes up. Nobody do extremely boring or difficult stuff for too long. Total of salary paid will be lower although it will commensurate to performance. Everybody's happy.
I own a business in a developing country. My employees work from 7am to 5pm (AT THE LEAST!) with half hour break (AT THE MOST!). There is a group of employees whose job basically move materials. The materials usually weights from an average of 1 kg (0.45lbs) to 50 kg (110lbs). Every day each will carry an average of 15,000 kgs (33,000 lbs) over a distance of around 10 meters (30 fts?). Longer work hours for a particular day means more materials to move. About half of the materials must be pulled from the ground to each of their shoulders.
In spite of all that heavy work and all the resulting six packs my employees have, there are still fat guys in this group. Not obese, but still fat. So sometimes workouts won't do anything..
Demos Technology and Services, an Indonesian (or Hong Kong or Singapore, depending on your perspective) based company, developed a web based HR management application using java since 2000. The product name was Orange, from the word Orang and e. Orang means person in Indonesian language and e means electronic.
Demos gain partnership with Mitra Integrasi Informatika, a subsidiary of Metrodata, one of the biggest IT service provider in Indonesia (the other one is IBM).
btw, Demos' Orange is far more comprehensive than yours. They even have components for strategic HR managements, stuff like competency gap analysis, linked to automatic training recommendation, linked to succession plannings or recruiting request to fill gaps. The payroll formula flexibility is so amazing it can accomodate weird compensation components, which are notoriously complex in Indonesia. Authorization schema is flexible, it can be based on subordination relationship (supervisor can only see his/her subordinate information) or based on functions (maybe such and such role can only access time attendance information in read only mode and doing only attendance consolidation for example), or based on both combinations. The db backend can be MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle. And many more..
NB: I don't work there anymore so I can't vouch for anything if any of you interested in this product..
She took a bunch of historical information about wars, built a model and then when run on that historical information it was 80% accurate.
Amazing stuff.
The above should be modded sarcastic/funny instead of informative..
Dr. Dennis McFadden from UT Austin found significant differences on hearing sensitivity between some comparisons of male/female with various sexual orientation. Last time I heard, he was trying different variation of sounds to find all variations that create significant differences on all possible comparisons.
Anyway, if my memory serves me right, there was also some studies finding significant difference on smelling sensitivity. And study of length of fingers, hand/finger pattern and their correlation with sexual orientation.
The length of fingers study is conducted at UT Austin.. And there is a research center for female sexuality at UT austin too. I wonder if UT Austin psychology majors are sexually more capable..:-)
In Indonesia, especially in area where the traffic is managed by real estate developers/mall developers/residents instead of government, signs can really contradict each other 100%. For example, a road can have an arrow going to it and forbidden signs together.
I think I'll start gathering such photographs. I'll post them at http://nothing-about-everything.blogspot.com/2006/ 11/examples-of-contradictory-road-signs.html
Drivers in some areas, like in Indonesia, tolerate higher uncertainty because they know the "driving culture". Thus traffic signs is not so important.
People who have driven in Indonesia for a couple years will assimilate the "driving culture" in Indonesia. (S)he will be able to tell:
1. When a traffic sign is violate-able, when it will be strictly enforced. It's not a matter of whether there is a police or not. It's a matter of understanding the intention of police. This instinct is very useful especially in places where traffic signs contradicts each other.
2. Yeah, traffic signs do sometimes contradict each other in Indonesia.
3. When to yield and when to force your way, however the situation is.
4. How to act when there is no traffic signs.

The local content in South Korea is so developed and appealing to local people, they don't really need much bandwidth in/to foreign countries.

Consider the perspective of drivers in front of you!
Therefore if more people drive on the right side, the left driver will be eliminated from the gene pool.

n tent&task=view&id=21&Itemid=91, let's just hope that the owner of Demos do not sue you for using a product name similar to Orange..
Considering the first implementation of Orange by Demos was in 2004, and the fact that your product was created on fall 2005 http://orangehrm.com/home/index.php?option=com_co

Cell services near his path of travel was turned off for about 6 hours.
Check your fact: You would definitely NOT land in jail if you spit on the sidewalk of Indonesia.

personally i would do nothing. i would sit on my ass all day and do nothing.

Actually, it's nice to know that MS is paying attention to the details.
That's a bit like a car manufacturer worrying about the color of the seats while the breaks are still leaking.
Answer: 1. Do you know if the breaks are still leaking before buying it? 2. Is that mean you will buy a car with bright pink bluish color?
