  1. Eternal Memory on Harvard Prof Says Computers Need to Forget · · Score: 1

I dont really think theres anything enherintly wrong with eternal memory, that said though the powers that be have shown that they have no quams using this information to their own advantage (think taken out of context for example). This type of abuse of information would be my concern more than the data existing in the first place. Like nearly everything in this world information is a tool, its how you use it that counts

Ive been wondering that myself and not just about microsoft. The way things are going video on demand is the future, and that needs the tech sector more than the media cartels. Take the net for example, millions of everyday folk are providing content that is often seen by as many people as traditional media. It seems to me that long term the tech companys of today (microsoft, apple and so on) are in a perfect position to dictate the way this is gonna go, yet they seem to be pandering to the media companys at every turn. The only reason i can see for this is the shortsighted thinking of the corperate world but its still unusual for companys like microsoft not to exploit any and all opportunitys.

"Anyone remember when Capcom did the Duck Tales and Chip and Dale games for the NES? Now THOSE were great games first, but with quality TV tie-ins that tried to be true to the source material." I do, oh the memories that came flooding back after reading that. There was a mickey mouse/disney (sorry forget the name)game on the SNES which was also excellent. They were great games but there is a danger with being too true to the source material. For example spiderman 2 on the PS2 was an excellent game, the major problem with it was it copied the film almost scence for scene which made it about as long as the film.

Xbox & Playstation are devisions of larger companies. 2nd - Nintendo has been in this since the beginning, well not quite the beginning but by that i mean they were there back in the days of crap graphics and sound, 2 button pads for gods sake. They know theres more to this game than "oh shiny". And as for those bemoaning the fact that the rev is basically a gamecube i say good, the gamecube is a nice solid little unit (top loading is a pain) with a quality over quantanty approach towards titles. My beast of a gaming rig is an evolution of an old 386 but that doesent mean there the same machine. TRY RUNNING F.E.A.R. AT MAX ON A 386SX 4MB RAM When all 3 are available to buy i will definatly end up with a REV and one of the other 2, which one though i couldent tell you. I may have come across as a bit of a big N fanby but im not. I got fed up with them after the N64, i got a used gamecube a few months ago just because it was too cheap not to.)
