While i can totally see where ur coming from i cant think of anything worse. the current climate for MMO's is an rpg without any rpg elements whats so ever, there little more than glorified chat rooms. I for one would rather fallout died and was forgotten than get the EA/SOE treatment.
PS what ive seen of fallout 3 looks good but im still very very nervous of bethesda's involvement.
Personally i thought that was a piss poor decision, jedi are supposed to be rare, the hardest of the hardcore if u will. If i wanna be a jedi i will play one of the countless star wars games of that type. The really interesting part of SWG was the galaxy part, the SW universe is massive and populated with many many interesting characters and occupations the jedi and the sith arnt the be all and end all of the universe. However they are the be all and end all as far as marketing are concerned.
Personally i think this is tragic news. The KOTOR series has been excellent (sith lords only being 70% complete aside), but they were about the morality play (some even say it was the birth of the moral RPG). This is something that just doesent work in a massive setting, to many griefers, scammers and just plain destructive people. I was really anticipating KOTOR3 but this has ended that. On a side note has any1 else noticed that bioware has become the new lucasarts.
Yeah im with you on this one, why would you refuse to give them back control after you were caught bang to rights, after all he made his point (as well as ending his career). As with most so called news stories the devil is in the details......unfortunatly the details have been left out (intentional or sloppy, its just too hard to tell these days)
I've been running it all day and so far i like, it seems faster nothing has broken (well one extension but im used to that by now). However whenever i right click on a link FF3 seems to guess what i want, no lil menu just randomly tries to save the link or print it or email it or whatever other function it takes a fancy to. Its all very bizzare.
yeah, of course ur right i didnt read the article, i was taking about watermarks in the literall sense a passive form of copy protection. Although it might not be what the article suggests, i think a watermark (in the true sense of the word) cant be argued against. if its doesent stop me then im cool with it, your not supposed to be redistributing after all/.
I was just thinking about it and maybe they should, well not collude as much as fund a joint venture. The overlap between games and military sims of all sorts is blurring and sure there not the same thing but they do share a foundation. It could even help to bring down the costs of engine development as well as give the military a base to more easily modifiy the tech for their purposes. As a bonus i bet something like stalker would have been easier given access to military firearms tests , just a thought
Im not really interested in the numbers of it, all i know is that for the first time in a long time im utterly spoiled for choice.
im currently muddling through, the witcher (PC), gears of wars (pc), Assasins creed (360), Halo 3 (360), Metroid and Mario for the Wii to name a few. With Mass effect and unreal tournament 3 coming soon and a whole host of 2008 titles (such as GTA), i for one am an extremly happy camper.
"It's funny how "vendor lock-in" is used as though it's a unique reason to avoid Apple products, yet I see examples of it rampant with ALL the major PC vendors".
Which is exactly why i build my own. Incidently its also the reason why i will never own a mac, i like to monkey about with the hardware. And no im not bashing apple, osx is very impressive. i just dont like the idea of being sold a complete system by anyone.
Microsoft really have embraced the ways of old linux, they've created an OS that can do all the everyday tasks very well and is getting prettier. Alas you still have to keep a dual boot of XP if you want your hardware to work or play games
In the UK we dont have an adult only rating, over here they get a (legally binding) BBFC 18 cert. im just interested how this self policing works here as i have plenty of 18 games hell i even got a couple of gamecube games that are rated 18, and an 18 cert here basically makes them Adult Only.
as i cant seem to find a link at the moment, but im sure i read a release from rockstar a while ago that said they had done the deal with nintendo to release manhunt 2 and a (cut down) GTA 4ish for the wii. As for nintendo they stated that they would publish adult games (if not in mass quantities) as part of there gaming is for everyone stance.
Oh and slightly off topic im extremely vexed to see the uk papers running the "manhunt killed my son" story AGAIN.
I was gonna mod you up but i have no mod points anymore, i really couldent agree with you more. I just wanna add that while the K/M is great for FPS it sucks for other types of games just as a joypad kicks ass for some types and sucks for others its all a matter of balance, hell isnt everything.
why is the CEO applying patches to products in person?
And how often does he do this?
Whenever he needs to get paid

buggy releases go with the territory with MMO's thats not what killed SWG. Completley rewriting the way the game played was what killed SWG
Youve been modded funny but if u added a 'was' to the end of ur comment it could have been insightful
Now theres an EA slogan "Its just a game"!!!!

Its been said before, $1 million fine per piece of personal data lost, it would stop being collected by the end of the week.

Most people are calling for some reasonable give and take, in that regard i cant really argue against watermarks.

To this day i still love the 2 player mode in Toejam and Earl
Isnt that what FASA did with shadowrun, hobbled the mouse and keyboard then gave 360 players an additional auto aim
Well if was an American dog it was probably done to stop the animal from suing.
Wait a minute when have EA made a game that last 40 hours
the last i herd Capita who run the congestion charge claim it hasent paid for itself yet, so no, nothing has gone into public transport.

You forgot one. Ban sex. after all it can produce children and we cant have any connection between the two.
