    No, that was accurate - the climate is changing all the time, and humans have caused various changes to accelerate in ways that are detrimental to the survival of our species (growth of deserts, loss of farmland, etc.)

    What this is proposing, is a way to mitigate some of the detrimental changes.

    That aside, why the snark? I understand that people of course have personal investment in their enviroment (it's where we live, after all), but for someone proposing a simple change like this that could have multiple beneficial results for our species, I'm not sure why you feel so threatened.

    They weren't great, most of them. Anyone who grew up in the 80's and 90's videogame era, knows that at least 90% of those old 2d platformers... were truly, brokenly awful.

    Fortunately, those are rarely remembered - the reason why we consider them 'so great', is because it's only the good ones that get remembered and replayed, years later, with any fondness.

    Obviously, no. What I stated rather plainly was that stupidity is part of being human - there's just no way around that. You want to penalize people for being human, sure, but forgive me if I'll not accept your viewpoint as much more than, well, stupid.

    'Tough love' is no different from 'helpful sadism' - a means for the sadist to rationalize their cruelty after the fact. It's a lazy way of pretending to help without actually putting forth any effort. Reprehensible.

    I'm... astonished at the level of incompetence here. A site with 13 years of work like this, and they didn't bother to backup anything at all?

    And now they're trying to handwave it away with 'oh uh, uh really folks, seriously, were really did have backups haha, between servers olol'.

    I don't think 'olol' is going to impress anyone whos work was just wiped out by their incompetence.

    That's a bad solution. First of all, I've never heard of Panera Bread, and there's definately not one local to me. Choices for free wifi are basically the library, a couple coffee places, or McDonalds.

    Time for a fork. If he's serious about this, Wladimir Palant should /not/ be allowed to control this project. The whole /point/ of Adblock Plus, is to, y'know, BLOCK ADS.

    Seriously. He's already being courted by advertizers like this, and is apparantly willing to work with them - he can't be trusted. Who's to say they won't convince him to sneak in some code that 'accidentally' fails to block a certain set of ads?

    Take it out of Wladimir Palant's control, and we'll all be better off.

    I don't know about that. Past failure has never seemed to concern Apple or more specifically, Jobs.

    Remember the Newton? Did okay for awhile, then got destroyed by the PalmPilot and others.

    Plus, gotta remember, right now, Apple is WEALTHY. They can afford to take a loss on selling something with decent gaming specs at a loss, and make all the money back with the online store part.
