The plant is next to a river, which empties into the ocean.
Part of the nature of rivers, is that they transport fresh water easily.
Depleting a supply of fresh water, when you are on a RIVER next to the OCEAN is not only not a valid worry, it is a stupid worry that verges on the same sort of knee-jerk hysteria that lead the pumping millions of tons of radioactive material into the atmosphere because of coal burning, instead of using nuclear plants.
It's ridiculous, short-sighted, and causes more harm than good.
Troll much? Not just troll, entirely off-topic. From another poster:
" The title of the story is, "Obama Wants Computer Privacy Ruling Overturned" except that the story has nothing to do with Obama and calling this the 'Obama Administration' is a bit of a stretch as well.
It is Elena Kagan, not Obama. Her job is the United States Solicitor General. She is represents the US as a prosecutor for the Supreme Court. Isn't she just doing her job?
I don't understand how one person doing what they are suppose to be doing means Obama is against our rights. The connection just isn't there for me. "
How well that help with getting collisions? I guess it won't stop collisions like a switch, but I dunno if it'd be good for the type of research being talked about.
Yeah, um... I guess you don't know this, but the whole point of the experiment is to/get/ collisions. It's kinda how basic particle research like this is done.
The wikipedia article is a good start, but there's more info there, and there's always Google if you want to educate yourself further.:)

That's right in the faq.
eBay is just as exclusive - you can't use eBay without signing up either, and they also verify your identity. eBay also personally contacts their members to ensure they know who's interacting on the eBay site - they sure emailed me when I signed up!
"I now expect 4 dozen posts, making car analogies, expounding on the "false" argument of lost sales, and pointing out that I'm likely an astroturfing RIAA/MPAA shill.
Yeah, 'blame Canada' - to put it in context, most Canadians west of Ontario, view Ontario in the same way most Americans view France - that is, hopelessly and utterly broken. So stuff like this isn't a surprise - I don't mean to troll, but those easterners are about as blissfully statist as you can get and still be called a democracy.
Oh, and for those Ontarians in the audience? Yeah, 'Central Canada' would be Saskatchewan. Anything east of that is 'Eastern'.:)
Wow, and you're not marked 'Troll'?
The /. moderation system is broken.
it's dumbed down.

The reason for the Idle category is so crap like this can be put there, and I can block it.
String Theory has a lot to do with math, but absolutely nothing to do with science.

If they're all so scared enough to give it this much attention, it /must/ be good.
You're an asshole.
Who has obviously zero knowledge of addiction, or what addiction is.
'Willpower'? Are you going to accuse people who get cancer of not having enough 'willpower' too?
Addiction causes often physical changes to the structure and chemistry of the brain.
Accusing 'willpower' is just an easy way to for you to feel haughtily superior.
And Google doesn't have to pay them a cent. :)
Because the editors are trying to scam you into thinking Idle isn't the craphole it really is.
"- Apples UI design is definitely better."
Yep, well, you just defeated your own argument.
"Why didn't the folks promoting the book just stand it up again, I wonder?"
Because they didn't want to be beaten and 'indefinitely detained' for 'interfering in the lawful duties of the authorities'.
and they sure didn't fix it.
I can't tell if you're trolling or trying to be funny.
Er, What are you talking about?
Anyone can be a member.

The only difference here is fancier words.
That's still an "example of collective punishment (a practice outlawed in the Geneva conventions)."
In the US, 'prison rape' is laughed at. Is a beating worse than being raped?
So why is this Digg shit showing up on the front page?
Serious question.
You're not an RIAA/MPAA shill, but after:
"I now expect 4 dozen posts, making car analogies, expounding on the "false" argument of lost sales, and pointing out that I'm likely an astroturfing RIAA/MPAA shill.
Have fun!"
you're definitely trolling. :)
You forget that the digital version would probably be easier to fake. :)

Yeah yeah, slashdot editors suck, etc. - but expecting your readers to do your work for you is pushing it, and I'm a long-term reader.
Pleo: what is it? why should I care?
Else = Idle
