Ping times won't suffer. Your average G router gets you a 54mbps link. Your average cable ISP gives you a connection from 3-6mbps. Ummm...I think the bottleneck is the ISP and not your wireless router. The point, there is no disadvantage I see with using wireless.
The game manufactorers get the profit from the game sales, not sony. Sony receives licensing money from the game companies, i.e. EA Games pays sony for Need For Speed Underground PS3 License.
Everything they do is lies. Talk about their computer check-up....what a joke!! Or their new virus protection....considering even free hotmail checks your emails for viruses, and with AOL's track record I would NOT trust that to keep viruses away.
Many people are getting broadband and keeping their AOL account because they are too scared about learning something new and they think AOL is the easiest thing out there. So that means most of these families are forking over $60-$80/month for internet! I can count at least 5 families I know who are doing this.
>>Hmmm, right at the height of popularity too, kinda amazing how it worked out like that...
That is the idea. Hold off until the software is really popular. This way apple will be more inclined to settle.
I was always imbarrased for using windows. I would hide in the corner at coffee shops with my toshiba laptop hiding from the disapointing eyes of those harolded mac users. But now I am free. Loosers use linux, not windows. Hurray!!
Does anyone know of any figures on how much the entertainment industry has lossed due to piracy versus how much they have spent trying to stop it?
My guess is that they have spent way more on trying to stop it. What a great business model.
With these expansive wireless networks, what secutiry features are going to be enabled? You will be essentially on a large LAN, what is to stop some person driving by your house from looking at your files. Also, what does this mean for file-sharing? LAN file-sharing programs like sharescan will allow users to anonymously transfer files. Watch out RIAA!!
I think the whole "you get what you pay for" idea still applies to computers. And it always will. A world of completly opensource software and OSs is a dream that will never be realized.
I bet this can also be applied to Movie and Game downloads. Say you missed the first Lord of the Rings movie. You download the first one, then you go and see the 2nd and 3rd in theaters. Later down the road you decide you like the movies enough to buy the extended edition DVD set of all 3 movies. One little download caused future purchases that may not have happened otherwise.
Once companies learn to really take advantage of this, they will be able to increase revenues.

Or for that matter, just turn on the $300 ipod you already bought.
How bout 13.2 or 13.3? The more subs the better. Let the bass boom!

how much time per day do you spend checking all these? Seriuosly, what do you need all these for?
I love the free CDs. I have over 200 free DVD and CD cases thanks to AOL.

umm....i got nothing. they are worthless.
they should add a command where you can slashdot a site at will. Let the melting of servers begin!!

Now it is easier for blood sucking monopolies like M$ to copy the technology and make it less user friendly and have more security holes.

Who needs to compress video anymore? Just put it on a new blue-ray disk in HighDef.

The real threat to Linux is harware manufactorers purposely making devices that only work on windows and not supporting linux at all.
