Yes, there was something like that, but all these efforts were merged into http://haiku-os.org/. In its current state Haiku replaces most of BeOS Personal Edition (that free one) components, it is not yet an OS of its own.

Ditto for Israel, they made a deal with God to have a king. But the Pope doesn't claim that he is God. The Catholic Church believes in Holy Trinity and none of the three persons is Pope. Catholics don't consider him as God. You could argue that Holy Mary is a goddess (or considered as such), but not Pope.

Yes, and they decided leave the management of those resources up to the king. They gave him that power.
Ehm, no. The whole point of absolute monarchy is that the king's power to rule comes from God. That is why until the French Revolution (note it was both anti-monarch and anti-clergy) people in absolute monarchies respected their kings. Maybe with exception of Poland where kings were elected by nobleman. This finally led to partitions of Poland. A fine example that democracy may be not that good either.

My favorite was an old submarine simulator game (I think it was Gato) for the IBM PC. It had a special keystroke that would instantly change the screen to look like a spreadsheet application. This was in the days of DOS so the spreadsheet looked like 123.
Silent Service and Gunship had this 'boss-key' feature.

No, the sample rate was set to 44.1 kHz because most humans can hear sounds in about 20-22000 Hz range. To reproduce the wave accurately you have to double sampling rate, thus 44.1 kHz.

    From TFA:
The kinetic energy that will be released by the collision is estimated to be the equivalent of nearly 5 tons of TNT. However, this will only change the comet's velocity by about 0.0001 millimeters per second (0.014 inches per hour). The collision will not appreciably modify the orbital path of Tempel 1, which poses no threat to Earth now or in the foreseeable future.
You would need much heavier (or faster) probe to change comet's path significantly.
