  1. Re:No problem on Next-Gen DVD Players to Rely on HDMI? · · Score: 1

Many HDTV sets have only 3 digits before the decimal point. Admittedly, I haven't seen any HDTV sets for anywhere below say $600, but HDTV is starting to make a strong move towards the mainstream, midsize direct-view CRT TV sets in the 27" and larger range with sets in the 32" widescreen size going for mid 700 to 800 dollars.

You mean like Firefox 1.5 with its unpatched vulnerability? Hopefully its patched within the week, but running Firefox, Opera, et al is no guarantee that there are not vulnerabilities in the software.

This is not correct in all cases. For example in Duck Hunt, the light guns work by blanking the screen to all black for a frame, followed by an all black screen with white squares where the objects to be hit are located in the next frame. See this patent. I am not sure if there are any games which operate in the manner you proposed, but it is probably feasible to do this using the NES light gun technology.

Oh and I forgot to note that crappy snack animation only lasts 60 seconds...but there is also the annoying Will Rogers Institute snack combo "buy even more overpriced snacks in a combo and help children" ad they always slap on next to it. And they change the crappy Will Rogers ad fairly often from what I noticed, but its still the same ad with the same words...I don't know why they waste money refilming it so many times...... bah, the Will Rogers Institute snack combo ads are one of my most hated ads of all time...

"The 20" ends at the published start time. I used to do competitive ad audits where I would have to write down all the crap that played during the 20 and record the commercial lengths about once a month. For doing this I got paid 8 bucks, plus my movie ticket. I also had to record the start and end times of the commercials and the names of the trailers that played. Not a bad way to see a movie once a month although sometimes there are restrictions on what you can pick. For example any non-Disney movie. Any PG-13 movie, etc. Now all that said I can say "The 20" ends pretty reliably at the published start time or within a minute at which time the trailers begin. The spots about TV shows or the making of segments are 3 minutes each. The commercials are anywhere from 30-90 seconds each and they usually slap 3 minutes or so of these between each of the longer 3 minute segments. There are usually 5 to 6 trailers though and they don't start until the published start time. If you show up at the published start time you will have to sit through trailers but no commercials. When I am paying for my own movie I usually show up at the box office at the published start time buy my ticket etc. and by the time I get inside the trailers are about over and the movie is about to roll. At Regal published start time means trailer start time.

For one, if you use SCSI, Windows 2000 has a bug where it ignores the write_through flag. Windows XP correctly honors this flag. Some people complain that XP has "poor SCSI performance" because of this, but it is just doing what it is supposed to have done all along -- Namely write the data directly to disk rather than cache(usually to prevent possible data loss or corruption) when the applications ask it not to use the cache. This obviously results in a performance hit, but it is DOING THE RIGHT THING. Sure, in most cases for most users this doesn't matter and most users don't even have SCSI, but this is an important feature for some applications that is BROKEN in Windows 2000.

Specifically if you look under audio/home theater and then under speaker cables I have some of the Gamma Geometry speaker cable connected to their cheap model 206 banana plugs. It works pretty nicely although I am at work and do not recall the AWG rating for certain I believe I have 13 AWG cable. I picked up 2 lengths of about 8' of this stuff terminated with the banana plugs on it for only $10. Good luck even finding just the 4 pairs of banana plugs for $10 though. Even at the normal prices this stuff is a better deal than Monster cable.
