The shooter was reported to be wearing body armour so you would need to make a head shot in a smoke filled and very crowded theatre. So assuming you are even able to identify the shooter in the theatre trying to get that head shot with the panicked patrons running around would be difficult to say the least. What's more likely to happen is that everyone with a gun would have started firing at anyone else brandishing a weapon and the body count would be much higher and the gunman would most likely still have survived.
In a letter to the committee, Sony said it has added automated software monitoring and enhanced data security and encryption to its systems in the wake of the recent security breaches.
After reading the above I just wanted to scream! All of those things should have been setup to begin with not added after a breach. What they should be doing now is firing all of their admins and hiring some who actually know what they are doing rather than people they found wandering around the local Walmart.
The Sony executives can't have things both ways. They are quick to put themselves forward as the reason for the companies successes so conversly they must also take the blame for the failures. While they weren't the ones who setup the servers they are the ones who hold the overall responsibility for safeguarding our personnal information.
As my Sony equipment has been dying I've been replacing it with non-Sony stuff. I've avoided their music arm ever since the whole root kit debacle and I absolutely refuse to buy the PS3 even though I really, really want to play Slam Bolt Scrappers. I really can't envision a situation where I would buy a Sony product again.
Yes but Mussolini didn't make the trains run on time, he just convinced people that they were. The Italian people knew the trains weren't running on time because they were the ones who were sitting around waiting for them but they still accepted him and to this day the falicy is still quoted. Now the train service did improve remarkebly after the first world war but all of that happened before Mussolini came to power but he still claimed it was thanks to him.
Basically people will believe what the government tells them even when they know it isn't true. Maybe believe is the wrong word but they will accept what they are told even in the face of the obvious.
That's why I drive the Challenger 2. Sure it cost me about $8m an the gas mileage isn't the best (gallons per mile) but hey when that semi doing 200mph just bounces off the side who really cares. Oh and the last guy that tried to car jack me actually gave me money once he was staring down the barrel of the main gun!
(For you amateur politicians: The retraction of the Bucket Shop laws was added onto a spending bill in 2000. Bill Clinton signed it, because it was a couple of lines in a thousand-page bill, but it was the banking industry's paid-for congresscriminals who stuck it there. Moral: Never allow the GOP to hold power in congress again. When they abuse parliamentary tactics, it costs us $700 billion off the top, and millions of jobs.)
I think this is what you meant to say:
Moral: Never allow the Democrats to hold the presidency again. When they do they don't read what they are signing!
I am khan! From hell's heart, I stab at thee. For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee but please friend me at MyOuterSpace
Seriously, I'm rather lonely.
No really, I've only one friend and that's my mortal enemy Kirk!
You know why? Because for most folks, perception *is* reality. Once Microsoft succeeds in "planting" the notion that netbooks based on Linux are somewhat inferior, only the geeks will buy them.
Apart from geeks and maybe a few of their family members who else do you think is buying the Linux machines? No one that I know wants anything to do with Linux no matter how much I explain its virtues. I get the standard reply of does it run office? Well open office is better because and that's when they usually cut me off.
So yes MS is planting the notion that the Linux boxes are inferrior but frankly no one is listening. The geeks already know it's FUD and it seems hardly anyone else wants Linux anyway.
But this still doesn't explain why you would need to go faster than 80mph. From your example a speed of 75mph would be fine to merge in with the traffic.
Did anyone else get the advertising banner from Scientology at the top of this post? It said to click the link to see a video that told the real truth about Scientology. I tried clickin but it seems my employer has blocked scientology.org - I can't imagine why!
Considering the past history/. has with them and censorship I'm surprised they agree to show their ads or maybe Cowboy Neal is now a member of their "church"
This has to be one of the worst arguments for gun ownership EVER. I am all for the right to bare arms but to say that you need a gun in case the military ever turns on it's citizens is just rediculous.
So what will you be using against the tanks? How about the planes and helicopter gunships? So when a division of 1000 troops comes at your town will you be holding them off with your.22 pistol?
There are plenty of reasons for gun ownership, this is not one of them.
The whole thing was very satisfying and I can type "find . -type f -exec grep some-string {} \; -print" whenever I want and it'll work.
And people wonder why Linux hasn't taken over the home market yet? Most home users don't want to bring up a command line they just want to type something into the search box. Until Linux moves away from it's geeky image it's never going to break Microsofts strangle hold on the market.
"Once Defendant converted Plaintiffs' recording into the compressed.mp3 format AND they are in his shared folder,
they are no longer the authorized copies distributed by Plaintiffs."
This is a pretty unequivocal statement. If you make your personal copies available for distribution, they are no longer your personal copies since distribution is not the purpose, right, or intention for maintaining personal copies.
No it isn't. Just becasue a folder is defined as shared does not mean you can or want to distribute music from it. The problem is that they don't define what a shared folder is. I have folders on my machine that are shared within my home network but not to the internet. So does this mean I can't place music in them? There is a BIG difference between locally shared folders and ones that are made available to the internet.
With Vista, I have to call Microsoft and get permission to run it any time I change out a hardware component.
I'll ignore the fact that you can change hardware components without triggering the activation process but at least with M$ you can upgrade your hardware and I'm talking about all of it (CPU, MB etc). Hell if I want to I can buy all the parts and build it myself from scratch - now remind me again what Apple's view is on that:-)
It looks like Lego already did that Lego Fusion
Which ones?

Why not? People pay taxes that get used to fix the roads even if they don't have a car.
You are right that the U.S. is not a democracy but it is NOT a Democratic Republic. It's a Constitutional Republic.

The mistakes clearly illustrate that it was written using Emacs!

I believe he was talking about Counter Strike. It started out as a mod to Half-Life but ended up being released as a complete game in it's own right.
Turns out it was just affecting a bunch of old people who kept forgetting to turn their monitors on.

Maybe the document was written in "Austrian" and he didn't want to admit he didn't under stand it.
At least he then called an election in 1992 which he went on to win.
