It seems to me whomever did their market research forgot about consumers. No doubt the industry likes the idea but I seriously doubt many consumers will and therefore this will never become a viable product.
$2K/yr is too rich for my blood. Other than the major ISPs, us little guys can't swing that. And unless they shut us out, they never will really stop the small servers so in the end, either the small guys close or this is an interesting waste of time.
1972, Loring AFB ME, mid-January, temperature -30F before wind chill. I was working on a B-52. I didn't have it bad. When I got done I could go back inside. The security cops had it bad. They had to stay outside and when it got to -35, they took the dogs away from the cops because it was cruel to leave the dogs outside. Cops had to stay
Perhaps most worrying of all, the devices often cause autopilot malfunctions, which have resulted in planes climbing, oscillating, or disengaging from the autopilot system altogether.
As a pilot, I love this statement. God forbid they would have to disengage the autopilot and actually FLY the airplane! What is becoming of this world anyway?

It seems to me that the addition of a wing has changed the nature of the achievement.
I loved this statement "According to ComScore, competition for broadband services will continue to intensify, leading to pricing pressure and greater importance placed on performance."
Competition? Really? Like I have a choice of anything except Adelphia in my area. I'd gladly switch back to DSL if only they'd offer it.
to provide an automated way for me to contact my Legislators and tell them I am in favor of the national do-not-call list. Darned civilized if you ask me.
The interesting thing about case law is it does not necessarily reflect the original intent of our founding fathers. Case law is a documentation of the modern interpretation of facts as presented in that particular time, by a particular lawyer who argued pursuasively his/her view. An individual lawyer can successful in his/her argument without being "right." They were simply successful in arguing their point.
that being the general willingness of US citizens to accept things at face value. It seems we have become a society willing to let others think for us and accept whatever crackpot theory that comes around as long as someone else thought of it. I see way too many people who simply won't think for themselves.
more quickly and more inexpensively developing software that's more reliable
Based on the last 20 years either working in or supporting government efforts, I'd say yes. However (there is always a however), it depends on the sophistication of the developing organization. The cowboy shops still suck. Those who have embraced more formal processes have become more reliable. It is a 2-way street though and requires the customer to be more sophisticated as well. It doesn't do a damn thing to have a development shop at CMM-5 if the client doesn't understand the need for process and doesn't understand the software development challenges.
who can lead a business from inception to large scale success. It takes different talents and skills. Those adept at starting companies either can't or don't like the routine administration of business. They like to be on the edge, doing it all themselves. Those that can successfully manage a large company aren't suited for start-ups. They can't tolerate the risk and ambiguity of a new business.
I refuse to use on-line bill paying until such time as the cost of paying the bill goes below the price of a postage stamp. Okay, okay, I'll throw in the price of the envelope and check too. One loses the "float" by paying on-line. The bill payers also get to use that "float" to enhance their profits. Nope, I won't agree until the costs come down to reality.
I think all this discussion is hilarious! How many people work on programs coded in a single language? I have one beast that has stubs in COBOL, Fortran, C, C++, Pacal, and VB. Yes, it would be easier if it was all in one language just as it would be easier to use on standard measurement. The truth is we'll never get there and we are all already used to working with multiple languages and/or measurements in our daily lives. So whats thebig deal?
We have become a paranoid society when people are unwilling to have their own comments attributed to themselves. It is another symptom of a society that doesn't want to be responsible for its own actions. Bill Clinton is a perfect example of this.
I recently got ADSL through Bell Atlantic and they have changed their tune. I have a fixed IP and initially set it up on my WinNT box. As soon as the tech left, I turned on my Drawbridge/FreeBSD box and plugged all the other boxes into the hub and Bingo! One heck of a home network...

I wish Adelphia woulkd be forced to follow suit. I don't really want cable TV but am forced to get it just to have the broadband cable access.

Are there enhancements that should be added to either of these guidelines...?
Of course there are! At least 6" worth...

that you aren't trying to get a government job requiring a security clearance. A credit check will be the least of your worries.
Lastly, vote with your feet. If you don't want to do it, leave.

The issue here is about what did our forefathers intend? See http://proliberty.com/observer/20000313.htm for another bit of "case law."
kinda reminds me of the creationists too.

No mystery there.
Because none of these have a decent PIM. When one provides similar PIM functions, I'll gladly switch.
but only because I'm moving and the &^%$# phone company isn't offering DSL there yet.
But if people don't need DSL, then dropping back makes sense. After all, it IS money!
Just keep in mind wives are like software. You usually through away the first effort...
If at first you don't UCITA, buy, buy again...
