The Goodland, KS site was actually one of the fastest sites to go up- 11 days is very quick. The supercharger in Indio, California, for instance, was started months ago and still isn't online.
I've really had no problems on the latest model unibody 15" MBP. I've been running the Windows 7 x64 RTM since it was released. I think the best features added from the actual bootcamp installation are the keyboard/trackpad functions, HFS+ drivers, and backlit keyboard. Drivers aren't really an issue...
I'm not going to miss the snooty comments made by their staff members after asking them where a part is... and then try to sell me a warranty on top of it. Give me a break. Margins usually drop in most industries over time. Poor business design is what killed this beast. While I'm sure a number of talented people work for their chain, and I truly feel for them for their upcoming layoffs, you can't say that you didn't see it coming. Rest in peace.
Interestingly enough, I saw a green streak in the sky at about 7pm in daylight Monday evening. I can't find the time that it occurred on any of the news pages I visit. I live in Oklahoma, so I don't know if this was a separate event, but I thought it was more than just coincidence.
I haven't seen much in this area. I use Retrospect for all my computers at work, but laptops are kind of come-and-go. I have 2 backups scheduled every day, and the laptops are lucky if they catch one or two of those per week. And quite honestly, I don't find Retrospect very dependable for that matter, so it's only use it to say "we have a backup server running if anything happens", when in reality, I will do data recovery on hard drives before doing anything with Retrospect. Did this turn in to a rant? I guess my answer in short is that there's no viable backup for laptops that is 100% dependable because of their portability and dependence on connectivity. My department uses a highly-monitored network drive to store nearly all of our information to avoid disaster.
Vista (with Aero) battery life, under normal conditions, is about 2/3 of the battery life that I get when running OS X on my Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. I've noticed that Vista does have very good CPU power-savings; it doesn't use full processing power until it is necessary. What I can't figure out is why XP/Vista makes the MacBook Pro run so much hotter. OS X definitely has the higher RAM usage, and CPU usage is nearly the same, yet OS X runs cool and quiet while both Windows installations I've had run warmer. Maybe it's a driver inefficiency or something... it also did this on a Core Duo MacBook I owned. Hmm.
I hope Paul Allen doesn't have too much invested in this little device... it looks like something from 5 years ago. If it's going to cost 2 grand, why not just save some space and power and use flash-based storage? It's only 30GB anyways. It might help it look a little less like a brick, also.
Shill bidding or not... the buyer still enters their maximum price that they are willing to pay for that particular item. If you don't want to pay that much, then don't bid that high! The complaints seem a little misplaced to me. Plus, the fact that everybody and their brother uses eBay now doesn't help prices.
If you look for a technical job at 17, you're likely to come up empty-handed. Just don't be so arrogant that you refuse to work below your technical skill level. Get some experience and some good references. 17 is young; focus on education and knowledge more than work now. You might be incredibly smart at 17, but you may not have the discipline and dependability of someone older. There's nothing wrong with selling iPods at Best Buy. I worked at a pizza place 2 years ago; now I'm an IT Coordinator at a university.

MSE will have definitions for a year after the EOL: http://blogs.technet.com/b/mmp...
I'm not exactly for challenging the Department of "Defense" on this one.
"Why did it take them so long to realize that the best way to avoid roadside bombs might involve getting off the road?"
Even safer- get our young men and women out of the country. It's pretty clear that the picture is suggesting Afghanistan.
iBox?

...how someone can suggest this when the most basic but most widely-used Adobe product, Flash player, is a giant flaming CPU-hogging turd in OS X.

That was terrible.

Before you go and insult the bible, I suggest you read it. Love is more powerful than any of those things.
When i asked for it to find porn in Oklahoma, it gave me the first three results:
1. First Christian Church
2. The local police department
3. Animal Control
Maybe it's just not the same as the real google.

bullshite.
this is like saying donating blood is a good way to lose weight...
Maximum Bid = Highest price you are willing to pay... not an ridiculous amount to guarantee that you win (or you WILL get burned).

You're right- we should have kept the internet text-based, right? Telnet isn't that dull...

It will never be able to detect sarcasm.
