When i want mod points faster i meta-mod and usually i get more points within a few hours. Of course i seldom use all of them and usually i keep getting more but i have seen dry spells of a couple of pointless weeks.
If influenza indeed accounts for 500,000 lives per year traffic still kill more per year worldwide according to one of the very few available documents availavle. It turns out that Influenza is less deadly(ignoring the mutant strains a bit) than walking. I know i won't be too worried when i bundle up later to walk to the store but then i leave my headphones at home and pay attention to my surroundings.
I've used codeine for severe tooth pain when i had a split wisdom tooth but i found it to not so much kill the pain as only fog my mind so i didn't care so much about it. I've also tried vicodin which at a low dose removed the pain entirely for about 4 hours at a time. Truthfully though the very best remedy i ever found for such pain is a double-dose of ibuprofin and a normal dose every 3 or so hours after. For me it took down the swelling in the tissues and removed pressure from the underlying nerves.
"I block them because ad rotator "services" are the primary infection vector out there."
I block them primarily to avoid the infection vector but a fantastic side effect is that i can browse my standard 20-30 tabs on my single-core desktop or any of my laptops amd the system remains responsive as i do it. I tend to open a new tab for each link and with the prevalence of flash on the modern web even 5-10 tabs will top out ANY of my systems CPU.
The system was also detailed on "Daily Planet" on the discovery channel a number of years back. This is old news but public awareness of it is almost nil.
I have a f2p account and the folks at turbine have been most helpful in getting the latest update running on my antiquated system! Of course i never read the support policy but that didn't stop them from emailing me config options that vastly improved performance and stability on my rig. Now i play daily once again...
The best upgrade to my portable rig with it's slow hard drive that i've made has been to add ram and move swap to ram(on heavily-tweaked xphome) leading to a 1400% (benchmarked!) speed increase for swapped data access! Now the system drive doesn't need to thrash constantly to handle FF with my 20-50 tab sessions, my DAW and games run much more smoothly and i can eke out more work from the workhorse system.
The naysayers will say to upgrade hardware or get a new system or drop in a second drive but for my purposes this has been a HUGE performance boost allowing my old hardware to last a lot longer than it otherwise would.
Now i just gotta figure out why my p4 2.8ghz sped up to 3.2ghz last week... still runs stable and wihin thermal tolerance though. My typical system uptime is on the order of 5-6 weeks only really shutting down to clean the cooling fins. As always YMMV.
"... and the viewer is the content." I found this with some help from Google. There used to be a CBC mock-up where an actor portraying Marshall McLuhan gave the entire quote but only few-even amongst the geeks and nerds seem to recall that.
I have two old(6+ years!) dell laptops-Squishy is a decent p4 *who* can crunch polygons or apply an ambient reverb track to a mix and be happy as long as i keep her video fins clean. Sparky is an unstable bitch with an annoying temperment-dns fails after several hours of perfect connection and i get to restart dns from cmd or disable/enable whichever network device is being used. That's on a good day... *She* has a few other tricks up *her* sleeve too but i keep *her* running for my day-to-day browing. Sparky's never been stable enough for decent audio work unfortunately...
My nix server is Svirfneblin and DSL keeps chugging away happily... That one's a dude!
Two mods that have revived the game for me a fifth time are conduit magic, and oblivion xp. On-the-fly weapon enchanting and a leveling system so I no longer need to keep a spreadsheet on my characters.
Twice the light at a given distance requires four times the energy to produce so that should be, "A candle that burns twice as bright, burns one-quarter as long." [/pedant]
you need to replace your hardware, or clean the viruses off your machine. I have never had Flash crash a single machine. I have never seen flash crash a single machine.
Most of my flash-based crashed have to do with a pegged CPU overheating on an inspiron 710m. It gets dismantled, cleaned and reassembled regularly-poor airflow is a design fault with the model and can be alleviated somewhat with i8kfangui and the "Force fans to high speed" setting along with a monthly tear-down. My other systems are fine with Flash. Perhaps gyrogeerloose has a similar situation with an underpowered component such as a tired or choked fan, memory issues, overclocked hardware (this IS/. after all) or any of a host of other potential candidates. A "Stress Test" can potentially rule out any hardware poblem.
Just a thought, and not necessarily correct in this case.

Now if i could just get rid of this damn cough!

The Susskind lectures on youtube have gotten me through the relevant mathematics. I'd link it but typing out html links is a real bitch on the ipod!

ddrrrrUUUUgggHHerrRRRrrrr....!!
Since nobody's stepped up yet and just in case you're serious let's see if i get this right...
human+genome+base+pairs"...just over 3 billion DNA base pairs"
3 billion (short count) 3.0*10^9
150 times that is 4.5*10^11
2^(3.0*10^9 * 4.5*10^11) which simplifies (with googles help!) to 1.35*10^21 bits
divide by size of data in loc"...perhaps about 3 petabytes (3000 terabytes)" which is 3.0*10^15bytes
Search google for "(1.35*10^21bits)/(3.0*10^15bytes*8)" and get "7 031.25"
So you are looking at roughly 7 thousand loc...
Results vary if 4 base pairs allow for base4 storage rather than binary...

iirc "KIT" had at one point destroyed and was rebuilt with an upgraded 8MegaBits (yes bits) of ram.. not that I watched it very often.

Short answer: Yes!
