Of course Android is going to do well. That's not in question. Why can't they state how many phones are "sold" to consumers, instead of saying they "shipped" x units. Most of the carriers don't have access to the iPhone. They're going to jump all over Android and try to push it to market. But, until we know how many "customers" are actually purchasing these things, we really don't know.
Take Samsung for example, they used the exact same marketing speak, but now we find out that actual customer sales were not that great: Samsung Galaxy Tab Sales Quite Small
And that's why we see the "shipped" instead of "sold". It's kind of like MS when they state how many that pushed into their supply channel. Again, not saying Android isn't doing well, but I would be even more impressed if these companies weren't so shady with their numbers.
I still think that the open model that Android brought to the mobile world will be much more beneficial for everyone...
Beneficial in what sense? Not trying to be a troll, just curious. Personally, I think there should be both open/closed systems, it spurs innovation. But perhaps you have another take.
After watching it, I was quite disappointed. It was all flash and no story (at least in my opinion). A few of things really bothered me....
They build up Flynn's kid to be some computer hacker/x-treme athlete in the beginning of the movie, but really doesn't use any of those skills once inside "the grid". (Sure, he jumped out a window with those fairy wings, but seriously, that was it??)
Jeff bridges "clue" character was so "wax" like, that it was a huge distraction. I'm sure this technology will get better with time, but it's not there yet.
The entire "bar" scene reminded me of the bar scene in the Matrix.
In the original, Flynn had special powers because he was a user. They really didn't explore or take advantage of that in this one. Not sure why.
The Iso's (sp), still don't really get it.
What happened with Tron when he finally "turned" was pretty lackluster and again, they really didn't explore that too much. I think they were trying to mimic the whole Darth Vader dark side thing, but it was executed pretty poorly.
Visually the movie was nice to look at, but it lacked a lot of what made the original movie so cool. And that was a good story. Unfortunatly, this seems to be par for course in Hollywood these days, so I'm not too surprised.
Hmm, why the hate.. It sounds like he's done some stuff.. What have you done?
I'm the downhill tumble and roll champ, king of the toad finders, premier burper, sodbuster and worm scout first order, and generalissimo of the mud and mayhem society. How about yourself?
Democrats may have greater support among the Hollywood celebrities that are visible to the public, but I don't think there is much evidence that they have closer ties to the megacorps that actually own the studios, who are who the MPAA represents.
Let me enlighten you...
Gershengorn, a partner with RIAA-firm Jenner & Block, represented the labels against Grokster (.pdf) and will be in charge of the DOJ Federal Programs Branch. That’s the unit that just told a federal judge the Obama administration supports monetary damages as high as $150,000 per purloined music track on a peer-to-peer file sharing program.
Donald Verrilli, associate deputy attorney general — the No. 3 in the DOJ, who unsuccessfully urged a federal judge to uphold the $222,000 file sharing verdict against Jammie Thomas.
Tom Perrilli, as Verrilli’s former boss, the Justice Department’s No. 2 argued in 2002 that internet service providers should release customer information to the RIAA even without a court subpoena.
Brian Hauck, counsel to associate attorney general, worked on the Grokster case on behalf of the record labels.
Ginger Anders, assistant to the solicitor general, litigated on the Cablevision case.
I'm an Apple fan, but I don't count MS out of anything. Maybe it's from all the years of people saying Apple was dying, which obviously never came true.
When you have a hard-core fan base, such as Apple and MS, that company isn't just going to die off easily. MS will hopefully learn some important lessons from all the past mistakes and perhaps pull off something extraordinary. I personally, I hope they do. Having one company dominate the market is just bad for the consumer. Having some healthy competition is always a plus.
Just to clarify, is that to hit someone with your cock? or is that to hit someone in the cock? If it's the latter, then your solution may be flawed since 61% may include both male and female. You may need to throw in a vaginachop to cover all your bases.
Our government better fix this and fix it quick. As a U.S. citizen I demand our elective officials overblow this issue into some kind of national security problem and require anyone flying, driving, walking, bicycling, chartering a bus or taking a taxi while entering, leaving or just site seeing our country to be detained, strip searched, beaten (especially if you one of those pesky journalist) and have your personally belongings seized.
And due to the fact that this lost nuclear activation card can be scanned and uploaded to nefarious websites, we need to completely shut down the internet, restrict television and radio to RIAA and MPAA approved content and revoke all library cards immediately.
The government needs to be reminded that us citizens are in control, dammit.
Live music used to be all around; families and friends would gather in the living room and listen; saloons and restaurants would have pianists in the corner. After the player piano, hardly anyplace has that.
Your joking, right? Ever hear of this thing called Radio?
I don't know why everyone on slashdot seems to give him a free pass but say DRM, locked-down hardware, restrictions, end user licenses and so on are bad. Apple and Steve Jobs is basically everything that we should be against. Even Windows is open, even if you don't get the source code.
I think you are somewhat directing you "anger" at iOS, but the OS X is certainly not closed. Yes, not as "open" as Linux, but certainly no different than Windows. And was the Zune open? Is the new Windows7 phone going to be open? I think not.
So the carriers in the US must have total control or their network is going to explode, eh? How is it that you can buy whatever device you want and connect it to whatever network you want here in Europe, eh? Why haven't the mobile networks in the EU exploded yet, then, eh?
This would be really ugly for Linux, BSD, and possible OS X boxen, but I would expect Apple to play along while proclaiming that their certificates are better because they come stamped with a big shiny sticker.
I know your joking, but Apple is pretty adamant about not placing stickers on any of their products. Case-in-point "Intel Inside" stickers.
You must of missed this line...

Why are they afraid to reveal this info?
Well, to be fair, maybe if Google wasn't copying other peoples stuff I'd feel sorry for them. iPhone

This is why I always use:
1060 W. Addison Street, Chicago, Illinois 60613
All the Andriod, Apple, Linux, etc. fanbois are going to have to start paying MS.
Pure genius Mr. Ballmer, pure genuis!
p.s. If you can't beat em, patent their fanbois.

And yet with AT&T's awesome service, I can only get 768Kbps. Thank goodness they have great customer support... [sarcasm]
It's kind of hard to compete with market share when the other guys are doing 2-for-1 specials.
Replace "Apple" with any other technology company name and it basically holds true for them as well.
Sony/PS3
..etc.
MS/Windows
Google/Andriod
Do I need to change my bookmark for slashdot.org to fuddot.org?

This is a good example as to why smart people need a marketing person.
WTF is it? I get that it's suppose to be AI, but what the heck is it trying to accomplish? Is it trying to make a color palette?
