Since XP is still being shipped and supported on netbooks this seems a little strange. What's the message - spend extra on memory and hard drive so that you can run XP instead of Linux but we won't give you security patches?
It's either "complete freedom" or "manacled in a half-mile deep concrete bunker somewhere in a remote region of desert in New Mexico." Mutual respect and devotion, or such abject desolation as sucks out the will to live, leaving a mere husk of a living thing groveling at one's feet for death.
It's interesting that people who generally tend to get arrested for having sex with children also tend to be very sociable.
I am not sure that this is true, but the loners go for attacks like bundling kids off the streat into the back of vans, not the sort of thing this vetting would have any affect on. Certainly the ones that do infiltrate positions of trust are mostly sociable.
You don't know much about UK psychology do you. We are happiest when we have something to moan about. I for one am looking forward to the sequel to Orwell's nightmare. It has already started, 90% of the population only know of "Big Brother" as a TV show, and airstrip one is available for hire for both bombing raids and extraordinary rendition.
I'm not sure how much bandwidth spotify uses, but it's not noticeable for me or anyone I know, OTOH we all have at least 10Mb in the wall. I can see that this might, possibly, be a problem in "developing" countries. But not in where Spotify is available right now (Europe).
You obviously don't live in one of the areas of Britain where cable is unavailable and the distance from your telephone exchange is over 5km. I live on the outskirts of a UK city and can get 0.5 to 0.8 MBPS with adaptive ASDL. This is an improvement on the half-meg which is all I could ever get with the old fixed rate ASDL.
there is an equivalent of FUSE for character devices that can be used for proxying OSS sound through ALSA
That quote shows how much of a train wreck Linux audio is.
I wouldn't disagree with you on that, however this is actually doing something to mitigate it. If a user can proxy one sound system through another without having to install kernel drivers it has to be an improvement.

If M$ were offered the same deal, they would snap it up immediately & not have such objections to it. I would prefer to see Google running this than M$.
And you would be surprised by Microsoft being hypocritical?
I think that cinemas are realising it. A lot of people have difficulty with 3d for one reason or another. When 3d films first arrived there was no choice. Now often there are showings in 3D and showings without. My wife has a lazy eye and 3d looks as though it has a feint shadow image to her and gives her a headache.
We could do with a "Global Warming Hero" like Saddam Hussain. He cut oil production, run his countries industry into the ground and drained marshlands creating deserts - which prevented methane emission. If all governments followed this model we could cut emissions drastically.
Not so fast...
You may avoid the twitter enabled remote but your wife also installed a motion-detector webcam that will post to twitter with a link to youtube.
I am a UK citizen, but I assumed that this would be the same in the USA:
having a Student visa only means that you are not allowed to work.
having a visa that allows you to work means that you have to pay the same National Insurance (Social Security) and Tax as citizens. The companies also have to pay the same NI contributions
I know that there are some exceptions on the tax front, double taxation allowances etc - but nothing that would affect the employer.

Is that you Phillip Garrido?
My theory is that Apple customer either love complaining or abuse.
In other words they like to take it up the arse both literally and metaphorically.
Apple fanboys really enjoy tethering. Along with aby other type of bondage.

And I'm so fucking sorry for the way we treated the Neanderthals. There's a symbol of reconciliation for you.

In the UK, a monthly pass is worthwhile in summer when a lot of hits come out.
OK, you'd have to go more than twice a month to make a pass worthwhile.
I have two Orange pay-as-you-go accounts that I use only to get the cheap cinema ticket offers that Orange does.
Seriously? Have you looked at the cost of an annual pass in your local cinema? You'd probably pay less for unlimited films.
Nobody called the police. In fact, my friend was carrying the other weapon I bought, a AR-15.
You're obviously a white guy
You've obviously never run Lynx on a beowulf cluster.
That's not two schedulers, it's just some tunables. See pages 391 to 444 of Windows Internals, 5th Edition (or comparable pages in earlier editions).
I'd mod you informative, given that this is Linus's preferred option this is an important distinction

Yes .... Blueray 3D and HD 3D!
Combine this with Microsofts Idea that the whole world follows US Patentsand the idiots who think that patent infringement should be a crime and it won't be long before someone does time for the layout of their web page.

Or you could hire a psychopath who knows exactly how the victim will feel .... and wishes that he could make them feel worse.
(we heard an entire Christian camp up there was completely burned down, but it's actually just fine!).
Shame, that would have made my day.
