well unless its a mechanical compass glued into the gps, its not going to be much use if the unit fails.
obviously the backup/s will come into play.
anyone who goes into the bush without survival skills, a map and compass is going to end up in a lot of trouble, and probably as some bleached bones pointing a warning for anyone else trying to play the great white explorer with only modern technology behind them.
it wasnt THAT bad! but i agree it wasnt a "the shining" by a long, long way.
i think sometimes there can be a consensus of when a movie is terrible (battlefield earth) but when sometimes people can be divided.. like with A.I. different strokes for different folks i suppose. example: a lot of teenagers have mentioned to me how they hated 'napoleon dynamite' but people over 20 generally love it.
yeah but the modifier 'overrated' is for posts that you consider have been OVERRATED (note the word rated) by other mods. if it just plain starts on a 1, it hasnt been rated it just 'is'
i think for some of the slashdotters its like a new toy at xmas when they get their temporary mod powers, and turn into catbert until either; they use all their points up in their little personal crusades, or someone rubs their moderation scrawl off the walls.
you`ll be sent to disney's camp x-ray for interrogation by the RIAA.
which is all you deserve for not pointing and screaming at the cd pirate (in a bodysnatchers style) sooner.
lol the GUI on an amiga with a 256 colour workbench on AGA.. now thats what i call sluggish, mp3 or not!
poor old chipmem.
windows gui isnt bad once you turn off the ridiculous 'eye-candy' like fading/scrolling menus. just open the damn menu and close it! as fast as possible! same with zooming open/close. just appear and disappear, thanks!
anyway, its good to see after 9 years or however long, theyve made some optimized mp3 playing. i think the only mp3 player i had for amiga was a quick port port, and command line only.
mp3 wasnt playable on my 50mhz 68030 amiga, mp2's only.
on a p.c it was still a huge hog, on a p70-ish machine. no mmx back then, of course.
this was a big problem if you wanted to listen to mp3's AND DO ANYTHING ELSE!
like the BeBox only with actual software to run on it?:D
i dont see the market, though. if a geek wanted a new machine to be well-supported-by-linux he would build it himself using carefully selected p.c parts.
bearing in mind cd'rs are a hell of a lot cheaper than usb flash drives, and dont need a usb port.
also if you use an internal/external card reader and flashcards of your choice, you can also use them in your camera/pda/whatever, depending.
also, what happens if they fall down a cliff or get eaten by a bear. or fatally wounded by owls? there would be caches of these space-age cans there for the next half a billion years. something tells me they arent exactly bio-degradeable. i reserve judgement on how they might be recycled or not.
lol modded down, but still not given 1 reason

well there are maps, and maps! i think he is planning to map the locations of villages, which probably arent on the maps.
well those teens who told me they didnt like/understand it are hilary duff fans, so theyre not the sharpest tools in the shed.

haha i totally agree. also, i totally lost any respect for that report when they used the infamous mac user "snappier" thing
im talking pre-winamp days, here!

a 1024x768 screen is going to look pretty damn pixelated blown up to 100" unless you sit quite a way back!

i just checked and the amiga didnt undraw the first window after all
but on the amiga it did turn the whole thing into a border, and not leave the original window. poor amiga ;--;
if you were a windows user, you'd understand why we hate microsoft!
back in the old days, windows turned into just a 1 pixel border when you moved them, and solid window movement was a big new feature. progress, eh?
maybe im doing something right with the typing (i have my keyboard flat, not raised.. if thats any help) and something very, very wrong with my mouse
