I hate to break it to the company that makes these things, but most theives don't have ultra high tech gadgets to get into people garages. They do it the old fashion way. Bust in the side door or window, then press the button inside. Or they break into the car (lots of times unlocked) that's sitting in the driveway and use the remote from the car.

Rolling codes just make sure that your neighbour with the same garage door system (which is everyone in surburbia) doesn't open your door when he comes home and wants to park in the garage. There are only 2 (yes, that is 2) garage door manufactures in the US, and I beleive that Chamberlain makes about 80% of the units (rebranded under other names like Sears) so there is a higher then 50% chance all your neighbors have the same/simlar units from the same manufacturer.

Now what's from people with those cards not just firing them up in 'ad-hoc' mode and running a private network with IRC or UT2003 server? That could make a plane ride really interesting.. you can talk about who's sitting next to you (and how bad they smell) or about that cute girl that's 5 rows up. Planes are so anti social, this could make a trip interesting.

Then again someone with some talent could then either spoof or steal service. Who's to going to charge you with anything, it's out of all gov't juristictions as someone claimed (akin to international waters). Then again, someone with two wireless devices can collect $10 from a few people then proxy the service out of the one laptop.. ahhh.. bandwidth sharing..

Using VirginMobile service the loss rate of messages seem to range in the 70 to 80%. yes.. maybe 2 or 3 in 10 messages actaully hit my phone! It's crazy cause sometimes I can be in the same room testing them and it works fine, then same location just on a different day, no messages. Odd thing is my messages always seem to get to her, it's her messages coming back get lost somewhere...

I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. I have crappy coverage with my GSM phone here (unless I'm in a major urban area I don't get signal) but the loss of SMS messages just suck ass!

Ahhhh.. to be back in europe again, if they know at least one thing, it's how to make mobile service work! Got to love riding subways with signals..

It seems rather odd, cause i have worked with the nexland router and it doesn't line balance, you either have two outbound routes (uses all bandwidth on one then flips to the the next line for other requests) or just works as failover, so that if one line goes down the second one comes up.

The way TCP/IP was built you should be able to route any packet out any of the interfaces at any given time, this would give you the ability to balance load between lines, and the returning data would be coming back thru either of the given lines...

Rest of the time the processors just sit there and does nothing.. well they keep the system going but that's it. As for a GPU, while you are playing quake 3 arean, those processors are blazing away the entire time you are playing, they never stop working, so having two would definately be an advantage.

Dual CPU's on the desktop are a waste of money, by the time you need the extra horsepower, it's cheaper to buy a new chip which will be faster (moore's law), though i have found using dual cpu'ed servers give it about an extra year of life at a fraction of the cost.
