    Its a shame it sucks in a studio enviroment.
    * Compression Great!
    * Portability Great!
    * Quality *cue incorrect answer sound*

    The fact is that MD's are not used as professional recording devices because the quality is blammed as part of the compression. It works by disregarding sound inaudiable to the human ear which sounds good [no pun intended] but this could not be what the producer wanted. Think about that when the producer spent 10 months on creating that bass sound only to have it clipped by the medium he was recording too then have the music sounding rubbish as a result (normally because of the inaudiable frequencies make you feel more than hear). A comparison to another product is television. PAL system runs at 24fps, this is too much for the human eye that usually runs at about 19FPS but as a result you get a much smoother picture.

    So Minidisks are dead as the market they were designed for doesnt want them.

    As for wireless USB that works over the range of a whole 3cm... whats the point just plug the darn thing in.

    The only reason 2.4 Ghz is used for microwaves is that it's a free bands of frequency (ISM frequency bands) that can be used worldwide.

    This is a bit off topic but can anyone explain in a nutshell we cant use any of the other frequencies. It seems every device is using these free frequencies that one day will become unusable due to conjection (your fridge speking to your shoes for example). Why dont people just use other frequencies or if required pay the fee to use the other frequencies.

    Which reminds me, Sony execs must be popping corks and slapping high-fives about now for their decision to build Blu-Ray into the PS3

    Well OFC they are they developed it.

    This victory will make them a stronger company and increase their power to set technology standards, which given their close ties to content producers (they are content producers) is bound to be good for everybody but the customer. I hate it when the bad guys go long and win big.

    How will it be bad for the customer, If i believed everything i read on /. everythings bad for the consumer (which isnt far from the truth) but at the end of the day its technoligical development more than that its business sense and a business has share holders that have to be kept happy. If you want a slice of the winning pie invest in one of these companies.

    I have been really happy with how much Vista is failing,

    I have to use it on a daily basis now. Although i dont mind it i would certainly rather have XP. It's not such a problem for me as im computer literate but its causing a nightmare for support as everyone else hates it. So much so we want to downgrade all of our licenses to xp and reinstall every computer just so support arent stretched to limits.

    I'm also finding it quite funny that a lot of active directory and group policy features are causing massive problems on vista for example roaming profiles dont work and folder redirection somethomes doesnt synch. Samba shares dont work without a hack. Office keeps crashing, IE still has spyware problems.

    Im so angry at the utter waste time vista and the fact microsoft are boasting record sales figures, productivity enhancements [sic], and a feature rich ui that doesnt do anything compiz-fusion doesn't do but somhow does it much slower.
