Being a former smoker, I can tell you it's true. I used to take 5 minutes and hour. For an 8 hour work day that's 40 minutes! Some people abuse this even more so.
Plenty of material on this...

Insider Threat
·
· Score: 1
But Insider Threat is one of the first to deal with one of the most significant threats to an organizations, namely that of the trusted insider.
This subject has been discussed in countless basic, and not so basic, security publications. Not that it isn't a real problem, but this is hardly ground breaking.
There was no "explosion", it was more of a high speed crash. Also, the probe was the size of a washing machine, where as the comet is roughly 8.9 by 2.7 by 2.7 miles.
Personally, I try to do the "right" thing, but could care less about what "the law" says I should do (largely because I've learned that "law" and "right" only rarely overlap, and then only for purely accidental reasons).
In a free society the public domain will never die. It's part of our culture. There will come a point when things get so bad that people will just stop caring about the lawyers and self-righteous extremism. Look at what a joke patents are becoming. If it's get ridiculous enough and enough people care about, it will change.
Although, things aren't so great right now, and will probably get worse before they get better.
I'm sure they'll be a little more durable than the USB sticks we have now. I wonder, though, how you'll unlock the doors. I don't like the idea of someone being able to stick a USB key into my car door. Plus, people probably won't be ready to give up the mechanical for the electronic.
On slashdot we always make a big deal out of censorship particular to the Chinese government. Why then, would it be ok for us to do the same thing to it's people. Many attacks do come from there, but that doesn't make it any less wrong.
If your going to do this at your company then don't whine about Chinese censorship any longer.
True. But you'll definately have people who won't get out of line until they have gone through every line on the reciept to make sure they didn't get changed for something they don't have. That will make large orders suck again.
It amazes that someone would write these perscriptions in their own name. Come on, you now that stuff is tracked, although rather losely as it turns out, your going to caught. I've said it before and I'll say it again, dumbass...
Actually, I tried it in WINE twice (cause I never learn my lesson the first time) and it locked up X both times. Good ole C-M-Backspace to the rescue...
No, it doesn't.
It is Entirely Accurate that this is a Bug.You're right it is a bug. But saying that Ubuntu is trashing your HD is a gross exaggeration.
It's important to note that this only occurs if ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE is enabled. By default it is NOT set. From /etc/default/acpi-support:
# Switch to laptop-mode on battery power - off by default as it causes odd
# hangs on some machines
ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE=false
It'll never happen, that's all TiVo DRM as far as I know. It would be nice if they got rid of their bullshit buy/rent pricing scheme though...
This must be where the island is! Oh wait... wrong forum sorry...

Hehe, that's what she said!
I think someone didn't check this out before it was posted... By someone I mean TACO.
Unfortunately the prior art on that one is more prevalent than the fools trying patent genes. Oh wait... I get it now.
Not the best picture but you get the idea... http://www.physorg.com/news7177.html
Wow, it's been a while since I've been to the Snort website. It got very corporatey professional looking.
what normally is a boring server operating system - studied in computer science classrooms, hidden in back offices
That's funny, that boring server OS has been on my desktop since '99. Great project, but that's kind of a dumb way to start your description of it.
You sir, are a KARMA WHORE! Geez, at least use a different link...

It came bundled with the rest of the government.

HERE, HERE! Morality != the Law.
I agree completely, that is what the Lessig should have said is in danger, our democracy and freedom.
We are know tettering on the edge of democracy and the illusion of it.

Microsoft says that this integration couldn't be done with past architectures.
Because, unbeknownced to the world, Microsoft is using a BSD kernel in Vista.
Use Cygwin.

The music upload is really cool though...

Maybe the poster should clarify SoIP, since TFA doesn't.
Servive over IP?
Storage over IP?
or my favorite:
Sex over IP
