I think that's an interesting angle. A shared hosting sort of thing. Sort of a cross between bit torrent and serving websites. There would be no central website to keep running, (or shut down, for that matter), if everyone is sharing the load of hosting it. I know there are a ton of puzzles to solve to make something like that happen, and it's above and beyond my abilities, but I think if it was going to be a truly "open" network, wouldn't the shared hosting of it make it even more so than having it all on one (or 10) central servers?
On top of that, I have 8 local channels, which are OTA (free to pick up with an aerial) that I am forced to pay for and forced to have in the package. I call it rape.

Several posts have mentioned that the console makers have to give their ok for an AO game to be released on said platform. Does anyone know if there is any sort of work being done on an open source hardware platform kind of thing, for which AO rated games would be freely available without mfr's "upgrade kit/license"?
Really? You must never have gone to a (public) university library. Plenty of science there for one to scrutinize. One just has to get off one's duff and look for it, rather than expect that it will be delivered to them for no effort.
