"If they put in a tv tuner card, why would anyone buy TV Shows of iTunes?"
Maybe because they forgot to program the tuner to record it?
I would have been more impressed if they slapped in a Digital HD tuner card and some basic software to time record events. If users cant figure out how to program the tuner to record shows (some people cant even figure out how to download MP3s illegally) they can buy them from Apple. Who cares if the quality is worse than analog TV, its hassle free.
PS I would never buy a Mac for this purpose. MyHD records, XBMC Plays and for alot less than a Mac Mini, even if it had a HD Tuner.
Interesting movie, in it RJR Nabisco have made a smoke-less cigarette. The only problem is, when lit up with a match, the sulfur in the match caused cigarette to smell like shit. Millions of dollars spent on this product and in the end they had to... er dump it.
As a former smoker, there is no way in hell im going to go back to smoking, safe or not, its too expensive, I might as well switch to Marijuana. Tobacco will end up costing the same amount in 10-20 years.
Like some cities on the West Coast, Seattle has hills and light rail doesnt work very well with hills. Light rail construction (which is not elevated) has been ongoing for years now, but most of the costs associated with it have to do with tunneling. Its a soft soil, so when you hit bodies of water, you have have to dig even deeper, which costs more money and takes longer to tunnel.
With Monorail, all you need to do is clear a path. Buy out business along the green line, no tunneling is involed. Plus im told that monorail can be converted to handle a maglev type of transportation. It was originally supposed to cost under 2 billion, but people didnt like the tax and decided to register their cars outside of KingCounty. This caused a severe drop in revene and prompted the monorail execs to resort to drastic funding (junk bonds, high intrest loans, etc) to the point where its going to cost over 10 billion.
We need the monorail (or some form of elevated transportation) because there isnt enough room to build more highways. The sucess of the monorail would have helped to extend it to other areas of King County such as Redmond or Tacoma. I used to temp at Microsoft, and getting to Redmond from Seattle wasnt really a problem, but getting home sure was a nightmare. Any minor problem, and your going to see backups.
King County citizens voted in favor for the monorail 5 times! And yet, its never gonna be built. Its beyond surreal.
I tested hardware for Win98se, WinMe, Win2k & WinXP. And main annoyance I had with my job was that it was far too boring. I would often email in sick Monday, Tuesday, & sometimes Wednesday. When I came in, I was able to easily catch up and log all my test scores by Friday afternoon. The job was just too slack, and it showed with management who would take our entire team out to Hooters resturant, come back 2 or 3 hours later drunk off their asses. The boss would invite me to go with them, but I really dont like getting drunk in the early afternoon. We had mini-fridges in the lab and occasionally people would start drinking at noon.
While some may think this is great, it really creates horrible work ethics should you move on to a new job. Lots of young people thinking that this was normal, and when they moved onto a new job outside the company they might assume that its ok to eat, drink, sleep, & shower at work. This is basically what happened to me, I moved on and ended up getting fired from two jobs, for doing things that were considered very tame at Microsoft (swearing in a casual way, using email for non-business related purposes like talking a friend down the hall). I came really close to getting fired on my current job for creating a batch file to copy.ini files which got Lotus Notes to work (call after call to internal support didnt work). My boss accused me of hacking the operating system, and I got dinged pretty bad on my evaluation. So while I did have some fun at MS, it set a bad example of conduct for future jobs.
Policy and proceedure are radically different at Microsoft compared to companies like Starbucks, or Blue Cross.
The irony for me was that MS was going to hire alot of entry level testing positions (they lost the perma-temp lawsuit). I didnt think I was qualified, but my boss pressed me to apply. I never got the job because im not very good at answering Brain Teaser type questions, if only the interviewers had asked me questions relating to my job, maybe I would have been hired. But most of the people in my lab, the ones who didnt really care about getting hired on full time, got hired full time. Including the potheads and alcoholics.
I had one guy who couldnt take the stress of working at MS get hired on full time, and he would duck into the parking lot to smoke pot for 2 hours when he told everyone he was over at the developers office testing. This one guy was responsible for testing Digital Video devices, and he was just too fucking stupid for words. The developer however was the smartest, nicest guy I ever met there.
50 years ago!!! Like wow, 3d, you mean I get to wear these glasses that give me a headache after an hour? SIGN ME UP!!! SARCASM LEVEL 7 CAPTAIN!! THATS ALL I CAN GIVE YA!!!
When I had my cell phone (which was my only phone), I never got telemarketer calling me. When I got the land line installed, about 5 months after I got it, I put my name on the Do Not Call list and suddenly, I get about 5 calls a week from all sorts of sales people.
The list doesnt work.
No doubt, its bad enough as it is watching people in SUVs taking 20 mph turns while talking on the phone, but to have that thing on your head just screams out multiple car collision.
Well DSL has always been that way. All I know is that Qwest is offering 7M/1M service now, and its only a matter of weeks before they start advertising it. All Comcast can do is offer a higher download speed, but they really need to work on their upstreams.
While its not being offered on their web site, depending on where you live, you can get 7M down / 1M up (technically 876k) speeds for 50$ a month. For me, it was only 10$ more than my 1.5M service. Mind you, its a basic service. No email, no newsgroups, no web hosting.
While 7M speeds arnt as good as the fiber service, its much better than what Comcast is offering in Seattle, which I believe is 4 meg down and 40k up for 45$ a month.

You failed at the olympics coverage! Offering a carrot in the form of an internet stream just shows how much you suck at covering these events.

It will be a horrible movie, thats gonna make a boatload of cash.
Id be more interested if you could play back movies via a DVD player supporting mpeg4. I really dont see myself buying a tivo just to play movies.
