Yep because speculation and conjecture will really help at this point.
Large consignments of lithium-ion batteries get carried all the time without issue.
It's not just "speculation and conjecture" As the Daily Beast's companion article states (emphasis mine),
One item in particular jumps out from the cargo manifest: a consignment weighing 5,400 pounds that included a large number of lithium-ion batteries, radio accessories and chargers.
Tests conducted on a similar consignment of batteries in a cargo hold by the Federal Aviation Administration have shown that they are vulnerable to a “thermal runaway” when one battery overheats and a chain reaction occurs. In several of the tests, smoke and fumes reached the airplane’s cockpit in less than 10 minutes. Another test caused an explosion that blew open the cockpit door. This week United Airlines joined Delta in deciding to no longer carry shipments of the batteries in the cargo holds of passenger flights.
I worked breakfast time at a Hardee's while at school, and we had to suck out all the oil, run it through a filter, and scrub the inside of the fryer every morning at the end of the shift. Of course this was back in the 80s, things might have changed since then.

What I'm saying (bearing in mind of course that This Is Merely My Opinion and that I Am Not A Lawyer) is:
Previous to this, Lenovo didn't promise not to sell machines with SuperFish installed on them. Now they have done so, and yet they're still shipping them with it.
Said another way:
To people who bought their machines previously, Lenovo could (and did) say, "Sorry, we screwed up, but we'll make it right," which could have had mitigating effects in the event of litigation. Now, they're out of any such excuses and thus MUCH more likely to get hammered in court.
Am quite sure that the Indian government at large is tossing and turning in its sleep that moondo and the many, many users with Indian IP addresses I see getting this torrent that I'm seeding are suddenly interested in the topic.

Nope, the filesizes are slightly different. Was going to try to jump-start the original torrent using the file you pointed to, but that obviously won't work. Thanks a lot for the link, though—lots of seeders and very zippy (I got the whole thing in 57 seconds flat). Cheers.
I sat on the plane back to Stockholm yesterday with an American who's coming here to study the Swedish health-care system. I didn't learn what his precise role is in the US system, but he spoke at length about the fact that the US spends nearly triple per capita what Sweden does on health care, yet has only about 2/3 the number of of doctors and hospital beds per capita, spends about twice as much per capita on administrative costs, and has a lower life expectancy. He also spoke of the massive abuse of emergency health-care services in the US, due in large part to the fact that many Americans don't have (often because they can't afford) a GP who can assist them with low-level problems and preventative care.
I am also reminded of the fact that my child was born via emergency Caesarian in Australia, where we (the Australian woman to whom I was married at the time and I) had to pay surprisingly little for it despite not having private insurance—if this had happened in the US, we would have been bankrupted.
This. Because it's been shown to work so very well as to cause any and all torrents of copyrighted material to disappear instantly and without a trace, along with any copies of said material already housed on various storage media wherever they might be found, scattered all around the planet. *nods sagely*

This issue was also brought up quite recently in a related discussion right here on Slashdot.

Shouldn't you finish cleaning the deep fryer before your manager gets back?
Perhaps, but I've other obligations on my time in addition to dispensing occasional pithy bits of wisdom to ACs on Slashdot.

Yep, problem solved.
You watch way too much TV, and Lenovo is already screwing themselves over quite handily, no mystery competitor required.

...why should they reimage the drives of notebooks in inventory?
To avoid a class-action lawsuit, maybe?
So sez you.

I read the BBC story already. Just up late and bored, so I thought I'd see if I could troll some iFanboi, and l0ungeb0i eagerly took the bait.
I've heard that phones manufactured in the current decade have screen resolutions much greater than 320x240.
Perhaps it's time that you considered an upgrade?

TFTFY.
I saw the signs women were holding during their rallies in India. Signs were in English...
That's in no way remarkable. In fact, it's to be expected, given that
Hindi in the Devanagari script is the official language of the Union. English is an additional co-official language for Government work.
Cultures are not defined by national boundaries.
Are you high? Of course it's censorship. A textbook example of it, in fact. Whatever the rationale might be for it does not alter that fact.

Surely you see that English possessive pronouns are commonly used for indicating relationships between people such as membership in a group, with no implication that one of them is the "property" of the other.
Whoever modded your post "Insightful" could also profit from a tap on the dome with a cluebat.

It would be nice if someone would actually stay on and, y'know, seed this thing.
*highfive*
