The point to the minigames in ME2 is to delay your gratification - you have a "lock" on a chest to stop you getting to it easily. If you want to rush though without doing the puzzle then you miss out on what is inside the box.
Poker isn't a game designed for that extra card to be in play. A lot of newer MMOs are.
I'm not saying you are wrong here, but you're pushing the kind of agenda that clogs the forums of many games I play - people whining because they want everything cheap - be that cheap in time or cheap in money.
Because it is quick, easy, and in your living room.
It's the difference between playing a DVD on your PC connected to your TV and using a DVD player.. Not much time saved, but it can make your life that little bit easier.
Plus I have no doubt they will add innovative little things into it all and in general pander to our nostalgia (and our micro-payments).
How about an appliance similar to a google-search-box that a business can drop into their racks and will let users use spreadsheets, databases and rich text documents, from their browsers?
Hook all that up with privacy/departmental/outside access options and you have an 'Office' style solution.
Totally agreed. I use his cooking advice on a daily basis, have used his soups, cookies and various techniques to my advantage several times and in general feel as though watching Good Eats has made my life better. For. The. Win.
..I started to consider what kind of jokes/. would make at the idea of MS creating robots.
I then realised the joke had already been made for me..

Tonnes of server downtime? I play on Venture Co (EU), and during Christmas, Easter and this lovely bit of time I have before my summer-job but after exams I have seen no server downtime other than scheduled maintenance.
I realise this is probably just good luck, but I think you're being a bit over the top here.
Content for the game is slowly being added, new quests, ideas, weapons. I realise things are slow at the moment, but they are taking a brave step with the add-on coming out soon. It's a huge world, detailed in books, games and online resources. If they change something vital, and somebody notices, then they will have a whole community at their necks.
I am currently adminning (for that, read; owning space on the server) for a MediaWiki which is being used for documentation, discussion, planning and grading for a 4 man, 2nd year university project.
We talk, argue, link and plan on the pages. Our tutor has access and leaves daily comments, along with his own arguments and links. When we have something to hand it, we just let him know which page it is.
He can track who has done what, and how active we all have been, and since everything is dated, he can take a "view" of a document which might evolve, but for grading purposes has to be "handed in" on a certain date.
It's useful, fun, and makes exchanging information easy.
I hate this kind of comment.
I'm the owner of a smartphone/PDA doohickie, and I use it for many things other than making calls, on daily basis.
I'm moving back to uni soon, and I've got a big list of all the things I need to do, outlook synced meetings and class times, emails saved and documents all ready to be used on the 1 piece of electronica I carry with me always.
I also have pictures of friends, thousands of messages, annoying games and a few MP3s, just in case. I've a putty client which I can use via a USB cable, and I am working on being able to MSN via wifi, just for the hell of it.
I do this because I enjoy it, and because it makes my life more oganised.
I don't mind if you like a simple phone. But stop being so smug about the fact. Please?
This is just a few days after I get my new windows based smart phone/PDA device... I'd actually sat there playing with it and wished apple made phones.
Oh well. Another year to my next upgrade.
I agree with the parent; the first image I had when I read the headline was of a new, microsoft funded range of superheroes. "We have the technology"..
I think it might be a better use for the money than the current destination. How much of the money to fight crime will be spent curbing 'piracy' and 'illegal software useage', compared to some of the realer issues the internet faces, (in my eyes, child porn, spam and other more anti-social ills).
..the best guide I ever found for a new [Free]BSD user was the handbook It's everything, all of it. I've a printed copy still sitting, bound on my shelf. It's also one of the top 10 words uttered in most #freebsd s:

I thought deployment would be a scripted install, with certain features locked down, possible corporate branding and in general a generic experience.
It's the idea of one guy having to install the same thing on 1000 machines, with only 1 coffee break and a single CD to help him. Right?

..did these griefers make all those things fly at her? Did they break the game in some way, or is it part of the standard model?
I think I speak for us all when I say,

They used to fit onto tiny little rom images... Play FF4-6 and come back to me.

This better be sarcasm, else I'm adding another point to my "Laughs at teh armenians" list.
