I don't think he's simply talking about your favorite easy listening station on FM, he's talking about other radio services that use many different frequencies, i.e. amateur radio, military communications, etc..
BPL has caused interference in many of the areas where it's being tried and until the get that fixed, I don't see BPL being a competitor.

Who knows, down the road, there may be some graphics bug out there where hackers can put a picture or some other art right on your screen. They will probalby call it pharting
Windows seems to be most secure, even though it is bloated and slow it never goes around asking people if this feature makes it look fat. It also wears garish wallpaper without worrying about what it looks like.
Linux on the otherhand although it seems to play well with others, panics at the slightest problem, and is very picky about how you speak to it.
For me it doesn't matter what the useragent is. When I do up my websites, I make sure it looks the same on all of them. IE, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera. If it don't then I fix it.
I think the useragent thing needs to be thrown out and these lazy assed web developers need to start really earning the titles of developers.
Sorry if I sound cranky, but it's Monday and I still ain't won the lotter.
It's not the Game that ID puts out that makes it worthwhile, it's what can be done with is when the modders get their hands on it. Especially for multiplayer games.
The single player game is nothing but a practice course, or boot camp to get used to the look and feel of the engine. After that you either go play plain vanilla deathmatches (bleh) or wait for the mods to come out.
As a Quake II modder (Catch the Chicken) and a Quake II server Admin (GoB Clan servers) and an active member in various Q2 development projects, I am really looking forward to Q4 so that I can port my mods over to it.
Stand back Sherman as we set the dials on the wayback machine to 1845....
Seriously, theres been many times I would want to kiss the person running wayback. I lost my home a few years back and had several websites that I lost because I hosted out of my house. I have been able to rebuild, or come fairly close to duplicating those original sites.
As for lawyers, if there wasn't somebody already archiving all these sights, they'd get someone to do it for them and then it would not be accessible to the public. I guess we need to take the good with the bad on this.
Einstein was not on the government payroll, nor was he sequestered at the compound. Although is research led to the development of the Bomb, he never officially participated in the project and he opposed the bomb. He had his morals and kept them. He didn't have a price like the rest of the scientists.
For those of you who you really don't want to go look I will post a highlight.
"Einstein was never officially part of the Manhattan Project, but he was one of the scientists responsible for getting it started (and later for protesting the use of the bombs)."
That's rich, when has the government EVER had the BEST people in a field working for them? Even during the Manhattan project they weren't the best, they were the ones who could shove aside their morals for a certain price. The government could never afford to hire the best, because megacorps can ALWAYS pay more.
But I don't want to get into that, it was your statement that I don't care if small inventors can no longer afford to apply for a patent---much of the innovation seems to come from megacorps anyway.... Sadly this is true these days, just like government is all run by lawyers. Perhaps we need to go in a different direction. Make it easier for the little guy, get back to the Edisons, and Bells, and Elisha Grays. Unfortunately I see the chance of that happening to be about the same as the store owners, school teachers and farmers going back to be the ones in congress.
True innovation comes from those who are not bound by corporate goals, and cubicle walls.

What about the heat from the sunlight itself?
Instead of getting a little warm in your office from incandescent lighting (like there's a lot of offices with that) you can feel like you are sitting inside an EZ-Bake oven instead.
Ahh but the heat is a natural heat I guess...
I've always wanted to sail the seven seas and fight those scurvy pirates, ARGH!!!.... d'oh, we're talking about a different kind if piracy aren't we?
Darn.
Anyone want to buy a slightly used parrot?
This is just proof that there is a lack of knowledge among those in charge of IT these days. The IT department at a place that had products that ran on unix had XWindows and Motif on the unapproved software list. When I finally got through to them that those were part of most unix environments they finally moved it to the approved side. These are the same people who are gonna buy Macs.
Maybe JASC Software can get some money out of this. They've been using the term PSP (Paint Shop Pro) a lot longer than Sony.

Seems familiar, almost like something I saw in a movie once.
