This is basically the reason why Image Comics was formed. They (Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, and some others) decided they weren't gonna give up the rights to their own creations to Marvel, so they formed what is essentially only a publisher of comics, not the typical publisher-studio combo that DC and Marvel are. They then became one of the top 4 comic publishers in the US because they were only publishers.

So, why doesn't someone try following their lead in the music industry?

Ok, just pointing out why you're completely right, minorities have never been fucked over by majorities. There was never slavery anywhere in the world, the monks in Tibet get gifts of more food and gold than they can handle, the homeless have great cardboard homes, jews never got wholesale slaughtered, Microsoft doesn't ever try to fuck over Linux or competitors web browsers, whites in America don't have an advantage over everyone else, and trolls get listened to.

Oh, and every one of those things was legal.

y is immensely greater than x at this point, thus making it pointless to save lives. Fucking corporate values system. Money = money to corporations. Whatever saves the most money and is most profitable is the best solution, even if that means forcing competitors out of business by strongarm tactics, anticompetitive practices. Why the hell should we apply this model that doesn't work (as markets prove repeatedly), to something not based on an attempt to make money?

I think it also goes one further, saying that the smart ones will interpret them as voices, and use their ideas to do something creative, i.e. write a book. The less intelligent will take it as fact, and go crazy living with "implants in their skulls" and "people watching them all the time", meanwhile not doing something creative, because honestly, if you're an unwilling recipient of an alien implant, you've got much bigger things to worry about than writing a book.
