Actually, there are more option smart a** , they could make it cheaper, they could offer a version suported by advertising lets say partnering with google (storage/bandwith in return for adverstising revenues).
They could also make it free for Mac users and offer it to Windows users for a fee for example.
Even if they got that engine working tomorrow in some form of enteprise warp 4 machine, we would have to get very far from earth to test it unless we want,as a minumum, to alter the orbit of the moon, the tides etc to be afected by such a powerful and new gravitational force, the problem is that to get far enough from the solar system to to f**ck it up we would still 30 years using the normal engines that we have today...and in anycase we can only use them to send small satelites and not massive power sources and torus to generate such strong margetic fields that would greate those theoretical gravitational particules . And that assuming that theory is correct...which is all they are trying to do anyway...so no we are going to have to wait a bit longer to kick some Klingon ass.
PS someone working on a cloacking device?
neither is any of the propietary interfaces for wireless mice! at least many laptops have bluetooth, no laptop has the required intefacte for a logitech or a microsoft wireless mouse. So if you want a wireless mouse BT is better, they should all be BT rather than propietary anyway.
Microsoft aims for world domination, therefore they are a fierce competitor to every other company.
-Google is a competitor because they want to play the targeted ads game
-IBM is a competitor because MS wants to get into more serious enterprise sofware
-Sony is a competitor because they want to get into the games console game
-Firefox (although not a company) pisses them off because they want to dominate the web browser market although there are only limited benefits in actually domination that market (if i was MS I would stop wasting money developing IE and ship Firefox with Windows)
- Apple is a competitor because of iTunes because MS also wants to sell music.
-Linux and Apache (although not a company) is a competitor for the medium size company market and seem to be able to scalate lo very large companies much better than windows (and this is going to go on for a long time, because Vista is not going to run a top of the line mainframe)
MS wants to fight every battle and take no hostages, every battle has a biggest competitor.
Or may be apple has some involvement on that, may be iRadio will be part of the next iPod or the next apple media centre... intel mac mini with FrontRow 2.0 feat iRadio?
Why is that a score 5 interesting? it is not that interesting... just denying that you will have the need to upgrade followed by a bit of suck up to the linux guys.
just get a mac.
Yes so what, the article does not say what they are doing, are women just chatting on MSN Messenger or are they creating new Googles? big difference, I hope they are creating new Googles, but most likely the number of women doing that is still small. It is not such an advance for female-kind to do email and chatting online!
Yes, that's why I stopped using them and came back to the normal iPod ones, the earbuds are great but I defenetly lost hearing, I was always saying 'what?' to people when they talked to me, now it's getting a bit better but I still think I lost hearing that is not coming back.
so lets say it is about form and not function? so what? so are ties, rings, most clothes...it if was all about function it would be an ugly, boring and functional world.
apart from the battery life, higher reliability of flash memory compared to hardrives etc.
from the article : 'Features like instant desktop search are great for any operating system, but they only truly "matter" when the mainstream market is using them'
Why? it should be personal between you and your desktop!
the site is slashdoted, another mirror: http://www.devishlyslinky.com/winxponmac0.1.zip
Why is there a picture an old iMac G4 with an intel logo over it in this article?

Lets remember EPIC 2014 http://cyberfam.pucrs.br/epic/index.htm

In the plane you don't have space to use a mouse, you'll most likely be using the built in trackpad!

Does being ugly make it any faster?

Clearly they just chose Gigabyte So it could be a G-appliance.
Yet another remake of a 60s TV classic, wasn't bewitched enough? can't we come up with new ideas anymore? :)
Since this thing jumps and crashes and jumps and crashes (etc etc)... I would think Windows is more suitable for the task :)
what's the challenge, they did that already...but a penguin..that's exiciting :)
The risks involved in all those small take offs and landings are probably too high.
Also, we are not looking for life in the moon, we already have lunar rocks, what the point of jumping around the moon?
We should a) get a cheap and reliable way to get to space b) build a base on the moon and explore other planets.

Messenger can do VoiP already not news, just Skype does it better, I guess they just bought that company to add VoiP to nomal telephone functionality?
Can we get the DVD kid (Jon Johansen) to start working on this ASAP?
there is no reason why there will be one single answer, 'the answer'.
