Why don't two or more companies join together in class action to fight Microsoft against this FUD??? Second, of the companies that did sign up with Microsoft before class action and before the suing companies WIN in class action, what happens to these companies that paid Microsoft for these patents?
I don't think that patent system should be scrapped, but I do think that patents should be under the administrative control of the government entity, not Microsoft saying you are..... I'm sure if I had patents and I enforced the patents that I could find LOTS of patent infringements in the WILD. What is the standard that tells me this is infringement or not.
Microsoft business model....
Litigation = profit !
For these politicians that keep rolling out the âoeIf your not a criminal, you have nothing to worry about.â. I think the first test of this âoeLAWâ should be that we find out what Peter Van Loan's IP address is and all the other MP's and submit it to the ISP's. Then when we get the information back, make it VERY VERY public on a website. It would be nice to know if Peter Van Loan likes lots of PORN and that it comprises 90% of his internet traffic....
Then when they find out what he has been doing on the net and that the Police/Public obtained all this information about Peter Van Loan and decided to share it with the public. Lets see if he has âoesomething to hide....â
Lastly, without a warrant, not only stating that they need the information, but who is to gather it/obtain it, I find the chance of impersonating a police office (offence in Canada) too tempting to get at that information. Just give a call to your local ISP state your such and such from the Police Service and get the ISP to send the information to a newly created hotmail or gmail address. Or just some police office curious after obtaining the girl he has been âoefollowingâ to see their IP activity....
GOVERNMENT ALONE CANNOT BE TRUSTED WITH THIS POWER. THIS CAN BE ABUSED.
I do enjoy these technologies when they get out into the public. I hope this one doesn't actually get implemented. Why? Say I'm a terrorist or general bad person.... like a school shooter or something.... As we know there is cell phone alert mechanism when things go "south", you get a phone call or text message. Ok... So where would microsofts technology be used.... a library... maybe at the movies? Or how about..... a SCHOOL or UNIVERSITY. Great!!! We have technologies in that alert us when things are going bad, like a school shooting or something, but hey, microsoft will disable your device from RINGING to alert you that the shooter is about to mow you down in the location your currently at. GREAT!!
Might not be too bad, but its going to have to be thought through a lot more to come into "production".
You can't control the stupid with technology this way, its much better to reach out and slap the idiot you refuses to follow the rules or put their phone on vibrate.
If I spash holy water on the Wii.... does it void my warrenty?
Seriously, most game consoles, your cell phone, your home computer, hell even appliances in the home (fridge, microwave, etc) have browsers, so they are all "Portals to Porn". Why are people listening to these quacks who need to "save us all from ourselves"? What is the alternative? Sell everything and crawl back into a cave?
I like this quote from the story....
"When was the last time you heard someone say 'I need a piece of software in 10 minutes?"
Ask my boss.... He needs it in 5.
The worse thing is there is a computer application that can piece together a normal strip shread document by scanning in the shreds and letting the program do the sorting for you....
They say the only way now to make sure the documents that you destroy cannot be reassembled is the buy a confetti or cross-cut papershreader. Instead of strips which can be put together by a number of means, you would have to put all these little pieces of paper back together.... (Or at least find a gym that someone will let you use for the weekend).
Hey to all,
I have heard of this with photo radar (Canada) and such.... Don't know if this applies. I have heard of people that have used plastic wrap, hairspray, or specially bought license plate covers to "cover up" the license plate. Don't get me wrong, from directly behind the vehicle or with the human eye, you can see the plate fine, which is perfectly legal under the law. However, at a angle where the photo radar sits, and the flash that it uses, the flash is reflected causing missing letters/numbers in the photo radar picture. Thus, the cops can't clearly read the license plate, so they can't give you a ticket (ie. look up the plate number to find the owners mailing address). So... my question is, can this "plate tracker" be circumvented because it would not be able to read the plate number p2p so and thus wouldn't/couldn't be "pinged".
Just something to think about. Maybe if enough people use a working method, then the system becomes useless..... and no 1984 senario for the Brits.....

"They are making something of nothing" Well that is the Microsoft business model isn't it?
I would reboot Sid Meier's Pirates, but make it a true MMO like World Of Warcraft. Use the map data from google or something.....

Every communication via device is monitored. Ouch, its starting to make V for Vendetta look more like a documentary.
